10 Mindfulness Activities You Can Try Today

All Children benefit from the practice of mindfulness. Who doesn't like the children and young people who work with us becoming more focused, calm, controlled and self-aware? Mindfulness is a technique that can help teach and strengthen these skills. By practicing mindfulness, people can learn to better understand their own thoughts, feelings, feelings and the environment around us. It helps us to refocus and focus on the present, rather than the past or the future.

10 Mindfulness Activities You Can Try Today

Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being strongly aware of your feelings and feelings without the need for explanation or judgment. Mindfulness exercises include breathing methods, guided imagery, and other exercises to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress.

If you have heard full attention, but you are not sure how to implement it with your students, I have gathered some simple strategies you can try. If you are a regular education teacher, special education teacher, counselor or parent, know that you have the power to teach full-minded practices. You do not need to be an expert. In fact, nobody really "maestrea" with full attention. Instead, we are all improving our practice, more we do. Give the techniques an attempt to see what works for you!

Here are some simple strategies for practicing mindfulness with children and young people:

1.Mindfulness coloring

You can use any coloring page for this event. I like to put together various picture books of different topics and levels. Let the children choose their own coloring page, which can be a page with dragons, cats, or just patterns. Get the coloring material that best suits your needs. Colored pencils, styling pens and gel pens are my favorites. Encourage the children to paint silently by themselves. Tell them that if they make a mistake, breathe and move on. Mindfulness simply puts aside experiences without making judgments about them.

2.Connect with nature

Take a 10-minute nature walk to help the children breathe fresh air and experience the changes in outdoor activities. When you are outside, encourage children to look around and use their senses to feel the surrounding environment.

3.Dragon's breath

An important part of mindfulness is learning to control your breathing. One way to get young children to buy it is to make it fun. In dragon breathing, children sit upright, inhale, stick out their tongues, and then exhale like a dragon. It may seem silly at first, but it helps bring the thought of deep breathing to your level! This is a good activity to do before the exam or after a break.

4. Breathing activity  with flowers Smell

the fragrance of flowers. This activity combines mindfulness coloring and deep breathing. Show scented markers and explain that this is a special event that you can only use these markers to perform. This is important so that students will not smell other signs of insecurity. Ask students to paint while walking and breathe through their noses.

5.Practice yoga

Take ten minutes to practice some simple yoga poses, such as tree pose, warrior pose, and crescent pose. If you are not sure how to teach posture, you can always find the video and play it as you practice together. I always like to end my yoga practice in a supine relaxed posture. This is also a great way to get involved in meditation!

6. Mindfulness 5-4-3-2-1

Use this technology to ground children and young people. This is a particularly important activity that can help children control anxiety or anger. Ask students to look around their current environment and find five things they can see, four things they can resist, three things they can hear, two things they can smell, and one thing they can taste. When they finish listing all of these, they will be more present and calm.

7.Recite positive affirmations

I am a strong advocate of teaching children and young people a positive self-talk. Not only is this uplifting, but when students read your positive affirmation to themselves, it will make people feel calm.

8. Practice guided meditation

Ask the children to find a place to lie down on a mat or yoga mat. Ask them to close their eyes, inhale and exhale. Read guided meditation to help your child imagine a relaxing beach or a peaceful walk in the woods. You can find one online or create your own! After a few minutes, the children will feel more calm and relaxed.

9.Use breathing visual effects

ome children and young people need more specific and intuitive methods to practice breathing. "Breathing diagram" is just a group of shapes or lines that children can follow with their fingers when they inhale and exhale. Different shapes have different effects on different children, so it is helpful to try some.

10.Listen to music

Play natural sounds, classical music or any original music of your choice. You can play music while the children are doing something independently, or you can let the children sit down and relax while listening to the music carefully.

11.Use crafts

I know this is more than 10, but I have to add this! For children and young people, crafting can be a very focused and relaxing activity. Knitting and beading are two of my favorites. They are simple and repetitive, making it easy for all students to try. You can also buy supplies at your local dollar store to get started. As a reward, children usually leave a tangible reminder of their mindfulness practice after completing the craft.
