Few tips for those parents whose children are suffering from ADHD

An 8 year old boy/girl who suffers from ADHD is not able to concentrate. The mind gets diverted and he/she fails to do an important task. It may be a study related thing or any other task. And it is certain that after this thing every child will face problems. But there is a solution to it.

The initiate has to come from parents. In other words, parents have to give time to their children and understand what is the problem. If a father or mother does not understand then who will help a child. There are few tips that we would be sharing in this article. These tips are only meant for those parents whose children are suffering from ADHD

It is specific that in today’s busy life every parent cannot handle the pressure of their office work. But besides that, you should give a little bit of time to your child. If you do it then there is no doubt that your child will get support. So mentioned below are the tips for those parents whose children are suffering from ADHD

What we would do is to mention some do’s and don’ts. You do not have to read them only but also analyze and examine thoroughly.

Do’s

  • Sit beside your child when he/she is studying- Today those days are no more because parents have become self-centered and worried only about their work. But if you reminisce about our childhood days just think about how our parents used to help us. They used to sit beside us when we used to study. Not only this, they also solved our problems. So today also if a parent does the same thing then a child will get motivated. This motivation will help him/her to increase their concentration.
  • Always interact with them- Another thing is to always interact with them. But remember that an interaction should be sensible. You can ask him/her about what happened in school. And you can also ask him/her if there is any problem he/she is facing with studies. If you do it then your child will realize that his/her parent is giving a valuable time. It is the best thing to do. Even the experts also recommend it to everyone.
  • Tell them to sleep early- We all know that if a child develops a bad sleeping habit it can lead to some dangerous effects. So as a parent it is your duty to give them advice and tell them to sleep early. If they are unable to sleep so early then tell them some bedtime stories. Or you can even sing a lullaby for them. It is guaranteed that after hearing a lullaby they will sleep so early. Without any doubt, we can say that it is the right habit.
  • Make your child do exercises- Everyone knows that exercising rejuvenates someone’s body. So even for a child, it is good. Please make your child do exercises because it will rejuvenate his/her energy and freshen up the mind so easily. It may involve running, cycling, yoga, meditation, and many others among them. Many people are there who take this matter lightly. But believe it that it is really good for the development of your child.

Don’ts

  • Criticize your child- It may happen that your child got poor marks in a subject. Or even he/she is not able to cope up with the load of the studies. In both these cases what we have seen is that many parents criticize their children. This criticism is not at all good for your children. So never criticize your child because later on he/she may get demotivated. What you can do is to give him/her some suggestions. In other words, the suggestions which can help them to boost their confidence.
  • Make him/her feel that he/she has ADHD- Do not tell him/her that he/she is suffering from ADHD. Let it be just do not share any negative things. If you do it then he/she can lose hope and think that no one is there beside him/her. In this situation, what you can do is to make your child think positive. This way you can easily drive away negative thoughts and bring positivity for him/her. Place a double tick mark beside this point and do not forget it.
  • Always get angry with your child- A lot of times we have seen that parents often get angry with their children. It is not at all good, stand beside your children and support them. If you always get angry he/she can consider you as an enemy. In other words, he/she may think that you are the main antagonist. Scolding your child is alright but do not do it on a regular basis. It can also have a great impact on his/her future.
  • Compare your child with someone else- It has been continuing for a longer period of time that parents compare their child with someone else’s. The statements come like this “see how good your classmate X or Y is” and “he concentrates very well”. There are many examples that we would not reflect here. Your child is your child, tell him/her something so that he/she can come out with flying colors. And remember this thing that if you keep comparing he/she can get frustrated.

Conclusion

ADHD is a disorder which does not get away only in one day. It takes a miracle to get rid of it. Therefore instead of criticizing your child, you have to bring out the positivity from him/her. If you can bring out the positivity then there is no doubt that he/she will get confidence. This confidence will help him/her in the future and later on, he/she can face challenges. All you can do is to follow these tips and bring positivity. But if you take them casually then nothing can become possible.
