Food combining will help your digestive system and set you on the path of great health. Combining Food improperly is one of the primary factors that cause gas, flatulence, heartburn,  stomach upset, etc… The resulting poor digestion can also contribute to malnutrition, even when you think you are eating a good diet.

Food combining is the idea and practice that eating certain foods together and keeping certain foods separate. This will help your system to digest food better and will also help you absorb nutrients more effectively.

The Idea of Food and Fruit Combination

When considering food combining, different categories of foods are involved. They include proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, of which carbohydrates are further broken down into fruits and starches.

Some food combining plans break these down even further. They go ahead to categorize fruits into acid, sub-acid, or sweet.

It is not wise to point out a particular fruit that is healthier than others. Each fruit has its own nutritional benefits and functions. For example, Melons has a lot of lycopene that helps to prevent cancer and cataracts. They are also rich in vitamin C and potassium, which is vital for the heart muscle.

On the other hand, grapes and plums have important antioxidants that help against cancer.

Mangoes and apricots have a high concentration of vitamin A for vision. They are also especially important in the summer because it protects the skin from the sun.

Rules of Fruit Combination in Your Diet

  • Eat fruits alone. Fruits are only mechanically digested in the stomach, not chemically. Thus, if eaten with other foods, fruits will get left behind to rot in the gut. This rot may help to feed yeast and other unhealthy pathogens in the system. Furthermore, you should never combine high-acid fruits, like citrus and pineapple, with sweet fruits, like bananas, dates, figs, or grapes.
  • You are advised here to eat fruits alone. For those that are probably used to mixing fruit with proteins like yogurt and with vegetables, well, stop. You are called to obey the laws of food combining, and separate out the other ingredients. Make smoothies that are fruits only and use ice and water for your liquids.
  • Separate your acidic and sweet fruits, and you should not combine sweet and acid fruits. Bananas are sweet, and they should not be combined with citrus, pineapple, or other fruits with a sour taste.

Raw Fruits are Way Better

  • Choose more of raw fruits over prepared packaged ones. Prepared fruits tend to be loaded in preservatives, saturated fats, and chemicals that our bodies do have trouble breaking down.
  • Include non-starchy vegetables in fruit smoothies since many non-starchy vegetables are actually fruits. So you can include them in your morning fruit smoothies. Examples of non-starchy vegetables include bell peppers, tomatoes, avocados, and cucumbers.
  • People suffering from high levels of triglycerides in their blood, and those who have a tendency for diabetes need to be careful of the amounts of fruits they eat. Diabetics should not eat the fruit as a snack between meals but as a dessert right after a meal so that the additional components will help in regulating the absorption of sugar from the fruit.

Eat fruits with a low glycemic index. This means that the sugar in them is absorbed less quickly into the blood. Examples of such fruits are watermelon or dates, in comparison to plums, peaches, mango or cherries that are considered high glycemic index fruits.

Some Great Fruit Combination and Health Tips For Healthy Living:

  • Laughing not only eases stress, but it promotes social bonding and lowers blood pressure. It may also boost your immune system. So bring some laughter into your life, whether it’s through friends or funny TV shows.
  • Learn to do stretching exercises when you wake up, because it boosts circulation and digestion, and helps relieve back pain.
  • Don’t skip breakfast, as studies have shown that eating a proper breakfast is one of the most positive things you can do if you are trying to lose weight. People who skip breakfast tend to gain weight.  Breakfast is still the most important meal of the day, and skipping the first meal of the day can increase the risk of obesity by 4 times.
  • If you don’t eat right when you wake up, your body senses hunger is coming and slows your metabolism to compensate. When your body is presented with food later, it will want to pack it all in; a recipe for gaining weight.

More Tips for Great Health

  • Brush up on hygieneImproper brushing of teeth can cause as much damage to the teeth and gums as not brushing at all. Lots of people don’t have a plan on how to see a dentist regularly. For brushing of teeth, hold your toothbrush in the same way that you would hold a pencil, and brush for at least two minutes.
This includes brushing the teeth, the junction of the teeth and gums, the tongue and the roof of the mouth, and all you need is a sturdy, soft-bristled toothbrush that you should replace each month.
  • To improve your health, then cut out the white stuff.  Most white foods like bread, rice, pasta, sugar, flour, are primarily made up of refined carbohydrates and empty calories. So cutting them out of your diet is necessary to shed pounds and improve your well-being. However, there are exceptions like egg whites, cauliflower, and fish. These are the only white foods you should have on hand.
  • Drink More Water: Staying hydrated is so imperative for staying healthy, energized, and even losing weight. There are so many reasons to drink enough water as it boosts your metabolism. Hunger is often disguised as thirst sometimes, and water is the best energy drink available. To find out exactly how much water you should be drinking, divide your body weight, in pounds, by two, and aim to drink that many ounces of water daily.

Beware of These 2 Things That Poses a Risk to Great Health

Shiny Apples and Fruits

Don’t always be tempted when you see beautiful shiny apples and other shiny fruits and vegetables.

The wax coating is often what attracts you and it usually contains herbicides or pesticides.

Wash the apple carefully. Water alone will not usually remove the residue:  You can soak your shiny and beautiful apple in an activated charcoal solution in order to naturally remove the wax-coated before consuming.

Ripening Agent for Banana and Plantain

Many people are in hurry to harvest their bananas and plantain, so they spray it with Calcium carbide which is a ripening agent that makes the plantain to ripen very quickly. It is toxic to the human body as it contains traces of arsenic and phosphorus.

So anytime you buy ripe banana or plantain, there are chances that you are buying products that are ripened with Calcium carbide.

To fix this issue, buy unripe Plantains and Banana and keep it inside black plastic for a few days, to ripen naturally.
