Episode Transcript

Hello. My name is Dr. Dac Teoli, and I want to welcome you to “The Colon Health Podcast” brought to you by Colonoscopy.com.

Over the course of this series, you’re going to hear from some of the world’s leading experts in gastroenterology, research, nutritional science, and much more. But, first, let me share a little bit about myself. I’m a physician, educator, husband, and father. I’m fortunate to have experienced life from coast to coast during my education and training, including institutions such as the Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins. I completed my residency training in emergency medicine at one of California’s busiest ERs. And after serving as their chief resident, I went on to subspecialize in hospice and palliative medicine. My life now as a physician crosses both of those realms, and I’ve previously been fortunate to reach the masses through nearly a hundred works spanning academic articles, book chapters, medical lectures, and scientific presentations.

Now, some of you might be wondering, “What in the world is an emergency medicine or palliative medicine doc doing hosting a podcast about colon health?” Well, let me tell you. Even beyond my years in medicine, I have seen up close and personal how important colon health can be for a person’s well-being and quality of life. I’ve seen very close friends suffer from chronic diseases such as ulcerative colitis and others live and unfortunately die with conditions such as colon cancer. It doesn’t matter what a person’s age is, where they live or what they identify as. If you have a colon, you owe yourself as much to keep it healthy as possible.

Throughout this series, I won’t be leading you as a physician. While my medical background might come in handy sometimes, this show isn’t about rendering diagnoses or prescribing treatments. No. Rather it’s about the journey. One in which our aim is exploration. I’ll be your guide as we venture side by side into the topics that you, our listeners, want to learn more about. So I ask you this, why not go on this adventure together? Thank you for listening, and I look forward to our journey into the world of colon health.
