Self Massage for Plantar Fasciitis (Plantar heel pain)

Tags:

A new study has been published that foam rolling does really help those with plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is a common problem that causes pain under the heel of the foot. The characteristic sign of plantar fasciitis is those very painful first steps in the morning after getting up out of bed.

There are many treatment options for plantar fasciitis including foot orthotics, exercise therapy, strapping, shock wave and simple rest. They all do seem to help in their own ways, but not one treatment has been shown to be universally useful everytime in everyone. The new study on foam rolling for plantar fasciitis showed that the use of a foam roller did make the symptoms better, so it is something that is worth adding to the treatment plan for plantar fasciitis.

We have available the Carnation PediRoller, which is a roller that is specifically designed to be used under the arch of the foot and will achieve similar results as seen in that study linked above. The PediRoller goes on the ground and the foot is rolled slowly and firmly backward and forwards on the roller to self-massage the plantar fascia and muscles on the bottom of the foot that are a problem in plantar fasciitis.

It is always good to see science published that support different products and treatments.
