Introduction
The condition of Depression usually occur along with other illnesses that make the body unwell,
to cut it short, depression is a risk sign of several health problems;depression have the strength to
make a person hate whatever he or she love the most in the past. It is a condition that can affect
everyone irrespective of age, region or other divergences but it occur to women more than in
their male counterparts. Depression is capable of affecting how a person think, act and feel
towards others, many are busy taking antidepressants to treat depression while forgetting that
other alternatives such as therapy and counselling can handle the condition.
Some people are born with genetic factors that trigger them to the risk of depression, whereas
others get it during due to neglect or abuse; whatever the case, anyone with depressive condition
should be treated with care, love, concern and should be invited for community activities. In
severe cases of depression, it make the depressed inflict various degrees of injuries or kill
themselves, it is paramount to note that treatment of the condition at early stage can improve the
wellbeing of the person as well as his or her daily activities.Depression can also trigger physical
changes in the body that disturbs usual operations such in a case of higher stress or
inflammation.

6. Absence of progressive coping strategies.

9. Living with condition that has chronic pains.
10. Having a neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson disease.
11. Women have high risk of getting depression than men.
Note; some hypertension drugs are capable of minimizing the risk of becoming depressed, they
includes atenolol, amlodipine, propranolol,bisoprolol,enalapril and carvedilol, etc.

Types of Depression
Depressions are categorized based on their different Symptoms and what trigger the, they are as
follows;
1. Psychotic depression; people with this type of depression have extreme symptoms and
hallucination which makes a person see, hear or touch things that are in reality not
physically present.
2. Bipolar depression; individual with this has alternating time of low mood and high level of
energy, depressive symptoms like sadness or hopelessness appear when he or she is in the
period of low mood.
3. Major depressive disorder; it has intense symptoms that occur for longer than two weeks, the
symptoms ruin victim’s daily activities or routines.
4. Postpartum depression; this form of depression happen after childbirth or perinatal period
which is around birth, it can also occur during pregnancy which makes a woman sad,
stressful and worry a lot.
5. People that re overwhelmed easily or face lots of trouble before coping with new conditions
can become depressed in a short period of time.
6. Persistent depressive disorder; it is otherwise refers to dysthymia which has less extreme
symptoms compared to major depression, the symptoms usually stays in person for two or
more years.
7. Seasonal effective disorder; it mostly begin in the period of late or early winter, they
symptoms vanish during the summer and spring periods.

Symptoms of Depression
1. Sleep disorder which includes sleeping too much or less.
2. Lack of energy, getting tire after minor works.
3. Feeling of unhappy, tearfulness, hopelessness, etc.
4. Slow level of thinking, speaking and body movements.
5. Restlessness, agitation and anxiety for no reasons.
6. Feeling of guilt, thinking lots on failures and worthlessness.
7. Facing challenge in concentrating, making decision and troubles.
8. Loss of weight, appetites and increase in cravings for food or drinks.
9. Irritability, frustration on small issues and getting angry so easily.
10. Loss if interest in what you enjoy doing in the past such as games, sex, tours, etc.

Conditions That Are Related to Depression
1. Stroke; it usually happen whenever the flow of blood to the brain is obstructed, there is
complicated relationship between stroke and depression; depression stimulate risk of
stroke even if a person do not have any risk factor like hypertension. Depression occur to
some people after suffering from stroke because stroke is capable of triggering physical
changes to the brain, immediate treatment is important to prevent the condition from
getting out of hand.
2. Diabetes; there are some diabetes drugs that affect control of blood glucose and can result
in gaining more weight, depression alone can make its victims away from normal
lifestyles; imbalance diet and poor level of exercise can make a person risk diabetic
condition. Type 2 diabetes makes a person get higher risk of depression mostly from the
self-care stress of diabetes, the situation then become difficult for the patient to handle his
or her diabetes; depression symptoms can become worse due to the diabetes
complications.
3. Cardiovascular disease; heart diseases and stroke share a very strong link more especially
if the case of depression occurs in early life of the person, high level of cholesterol and
hypertension can be vital risk factors like in depression. The risk of fatness can be twice
as in diabetes which is an endangerment to the normal health of heart, antipsychotics
increase blood fats and gaining more weights;the two of them can cause heart diseases.
The most dangerous risk factor is the depression that begin after a heart disease and
victim can die in ten years of cardiovascular disease.
4. Asthma; the asthma that some people have from childhood double the risk of becoming
depressed later in life, asthma and depression share nervous system changes in the same
way; the inflammation levels of the two are linked. Majority of those that have asthma

also have stress condition that usually pave way for depression, therefore if the victim
shuns treatments, then depression can making asthmatic condition worse that can kill.
