One of my favorite things about Paleo is that all of my favorite foods and snacks are not off the table for eating. And these Paleo Chicken Wings are one of my favorite food items I am talking about! The paleo BBQ sauce these chicken wings are cooked in doesn’t hold back on the flavor either. The only thing you are losing in this recipe is the added sugar that most BBQ sauces have in them.

These slow-baked Paleo Chicken wings practically fall off the bone!

The first time I made these was for the 2020 Super Bowl because chicken wings are a must at any Super Bowl party. Fortunately, there was no guilt in eating these Paleo Chicken wings while watching Shakira and JLO look AMAZING and straight slaying the halftime show. JLO has always been one of my favorites because we share the same first name and love for big hoop earrings. And my boyfriend has been obsessed with Shakira since he was a young teenager. So to say we both really enjoyed this year’s half time show is an understatement

Okay, back to these paleo chicken wings…..

You’re going to want to have at least 10-12 chicken wings. If you’re making these for a larger crowd and need more chicken wings consider doubling up on the sauce. It never hurts to have extra!

These wings are also a great pairing with other party favorites like our dairy-free spinach artichoke dip.

Prepare the BBQ Sauce

This sugar-free BBQ sauce is super easy to make!

In a medium-size mixing bowl, combine all the BBQ sauce ingredients: honey, lemon juice, onion powder, pepper, mustard, paprika, and minced garlic. Save the tomato paste and apple cider vinegar for last.

When we made these we found the BBQ sauce to be a little too tomato-ey for our liking. To adjust this recipe to your liking, I suggest you add tablespoons of the tomato paste and apple cider vinegar in small portions as you go and taste along the way. If the sauce is too tomato-ey add more apple cider vinegar to cut back on the tomato flavor and add a stronger vinegar flavor.

Slow-baking the Wings

These wings need to be slow-baked in the oven. We baked them at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 4 hours. Halfway through after baking for 2 hours we pulled them out and rotated them. This can be done once just halfway through or every hour.

It’s best to bake them on a roasting rack so that any fat and sauce drippings will drip off the chicken wing. For an easy less messy clean up make sure to cover your baking sheet with aluminum foil!

Just a tip before brushing your paleo chicken wings down with this BBQ sauce – pour half of the sauce into a separate mixing bowl. That way, if there is any leftover sauce you can actually keep it instead of throwing it out since it was cross-contaminated with raw chicken – no thank you salmonella!
Bake your wings until they are nice and crispy from the outside!

These paleo chicken wings CANNOT be served without our paleo ranch to dip them in!

If you’re making these paleo chicken wings for your next football game or family and friend gathering – impress your crowd with a guilt-free paleo spinach artichoke dip too. We tried both of these recipes out on our friends at the same Super Bowl party this year. It was a complete hit and nobody knew the spinach artichoke dip was completely dairy-free and paleo approved!
