The Frozen Honey Trend is a big trend on TikTok. But, should you try it?

Here are some things to consider before you freeze a bottle of wine for dessert.

TikTok is the best place to find new recipes and snacks. But some may be questionable. Frozen Honey is one example.

This DIY snack hack, which involves freezing honey in a plastic water bottle, shows up all over the place, with people insisting it’s a (literally) cool way to enjoy honey.

The first person to post about this trick was @daveyrz, who plunked a small frozen water bottle of honey in a bowl outside and said, “let’s see if we can attract some bees.” He declared that the bottle looked “way too frozen”, and he began to squeeze thick, Frozen Honey from it. He took a large bite after a big glob appeared.

This idea was a hit, and many others have also shared videos of their frozen honey snacks. Fellow TikTokker @glossybearss is one of them, breaking down how they made the treat (FYI: it’s just pouring honey into a bottle and freezing it). It’s really sweet, but I recommend it.

“What’s all the fuss about this? One person commented, “Really asking.” Other people had questions about the time you should freeze honey. One person said that they just tried it, and it got stuck to their teeth.

What’s the deal? Is this going to ruin your teeth? Is it even healthy? Experts offer their thoughts.

Is this safe to eat as a snack with frozen honey?

Let’s start by discussing the impact of frozen honey snacks on your teeth. Health is told by Mark Wolff, DDS (Doctor of Dental Medicine), Dean of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. __S.56__

Wolff doesn’t worry about tooth decay, even though this is pure sugar. Wolff states that honey contains components that can reduce tooth decay. However, it does not alter the pH in the same way as dissolving teeth. He says that honey can still impact your teeth, but it is not as harmful as table sugar.

It’s not recommended for large amounts. Jessica Cording tells health, RD (author of The Little Book of Game Changers), that honey is a natural substitute for sugar. However, honey can still cause blood sugar spikes if taken in large amounts or on its own. In the short term, blood sugar instability can cause mood swings, energy crashes, poor appetite control, and even mood swings. Consuming a whole bottle of honey can cause you to feel awful.

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the calorie content. You must listen to your body and eat what you like. However, one tablespoon of honey has 64 calories; according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, an entire frozen water bottle or bottle of honey is more. Gans states that if you were to consume a frozen teaspoon–one serving–of honey, it would not be a big deal. Enjoy the sweetness. For a simple snack, consuming frozen bottles of honey, even a small one, would result in a lot of sugar and calories.

Cording warns that this snack won’t satisfy you for long and will make you hungry very quickly. Cording states that it is best to be used as an ingredient in a meal or snack that contains a mixture of protein, fat and fibre.

You could also be at risk of developing diabetes if you eat many sugary snacks like frozen honey or other sweet treats. Cording states that chronic glycemic stability has been linked to many adverse health outcomes, including diabetes, heart disease, weight gain, impaired cognitive function, and cardiovascular problems.

You can still try it if you want, but keep in mind the serving size (so don’t eat an entire bottle of frozen honey). Try a smaller portion of the treat instead. Gans suggests that you put honey in an ice tray and then take one bite. Cording suggests that you squeeze a little bit of honey onto a protein-rich food such as Greek yoghurt if you don’t want to go with the bottle route.
