SECRETIN

SECRETIN

Secretin selectively facilitates GABAergic inputs onto Purkinje cells via a presynaptic and cAMP-dependent mechanism.

Secretin increases cAMP concentration in a variety of Brain areas,

        INJURY LIFE IS 35 MINUTES...

Secretin acts as a neurotransmitter in the brain.

Secretin-deficient mice show reduced hippocampal function and impaired Social Behavior.

Oxytocin plays an important role in social behavior. The secretin increased oxytocin release in the brain and thus social behavior in rats.

Secretin has a direct effect on Purkinje neurons in the cerebellum of the brain. Purkinje neurons play an important role in motor coordination and learning.

Motor coordination and motor learning ability are reduced in mice lacking secretion.

In another study, nasal secretin administration improved motor behavior and reduced hyperactivity in mice.

The secretin acts as a neurotransmitter in the brain and has a growth-aiding effect on neurons in mice.

More neurons-producing cells died, while mice lacking secretin had fewer new neurons.

In another study, mice deficient in secretin showed decreased activity of neuronal synapses in the hippocampus, pointing to a role of the secretion in brain function and development.

Increased secretin activity leads to increased bile duct cell growth and ultimately liver damage.

Lafutidin, a drug used to treat stomach ulcers, lowers secretin levels.

Omeprazole, an acid reflux medication, lowers secretin levels.
