Fall In Love with QWO This Season

This fall, why not treat yourself to a cutting-edge Treatment option for stubborn cellulite, along with that pumpkin spice latte? Getting prepared for the summer season has never been this easy.

Say hello to the first and only FDA-approved injectable for cellulite! QWO, sounds like “whoa!” but with “Q”, and rightfully so. QWO is a prescription medication that is quickly exciting patients and medical providers alike for disrupting the ability for us to treat moderate to severe cellulite, something up to 90% of women have. And it’s now officially available at St. Louis Laser Lipo & Vein Center!

What Causes Cellulite?

As we age, the Skin thins, fat cells enlarge and push against the skin, and fibrous septae bands thicken. This thickening creates the dimple appearance of cellulite on the buttocks and other areas of the skin.

How does QWO work?

Using collagenase enzymes, QWO targets these fibrous bands and redistributes the fat cells that are responsible for causing cellulite. QWO also stimulates the growth of new collagen!

What is QWO treatment like?

QWO is a series of three treatments, spaced three weeks apart.  This non-invasive, non-surgical treatment can provide smoother, firmer skin with a short treatment time, and no incisions or anesthesia.

Before your treatment, you will have a consultation to ensure you are a good candidate for QWO.  Ideal candidates will have moderate-to-severe cellulite that they have tried to improve with dieting and exercise and minimal skin laxity.  We recommend avoiding alcohol, smoking and any medications or supplements that may thin the blood before treatments.

During your treatment, each dimple that will be treated is marked with a surgical marker.  Then, while lying face down, QWO is injected into the fat of each dimple.  The injections will take about 10 minutes.

After your treatment, there will be soreness for a few days, like an intense workout.  Nodules felt under the skin are common and will resolve in 7-10 days.  Significant bruising will be present on the treated area.  You should avoid excessively exertive activities for a few days after your QWO treatments.

Am I a good candidate for QWO treatment in St. Louis?

Talk to your healthcare provider to see if QWO may be right for you, or give our office a call! There are risks associated with this product. You should not receive QWO if you are allergic to any collagenase or the ingredients in QWO, or have an active infection in the treatment area. Serious side effects: allergic (hypersensitivity) reactions, including anaphylaxis, and injection site bruising may occur. These are not all the side effects of QWO.
