For most of us, our day starts with normal CTM routine plus the sunscreen and we head over to our makeup. But there is a certain population who just do the bare necessity and call it a day.

It is said that most of us don’t know exactly what Skin type we have and end up messing with it. Well, it isn’t hard to know your skin type still many of us get it wrong further damaging the face.

Skincare is a marriage between the right kind of products, your diet, and lifestyle. If anything goes out of balance, chances are that you will see that change on your face.

For e.g., if you are having long nights because of a project or partying, chances are that your skin is dehydrated and dull also don’t forget panda eyes.

On the other hand, if you happen to skip a sunscreen, tan is the next thing you see on your skin. Various types of skin react differently under various circumstances.

Know Your Skin Type

A simple test on how to detect your skin type is to wash your face with normal water, pat dry and don’t apply any cream or moisturizer.

After 10-15 minutes place blotting sheets on forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. If it slips off from all areas you have a normal skin, if it sticks to T-zone (nose, forehead, and chin) you have a combination skin, while if it feels scratchy you have a dry skin.

Lastly, for oily skin, you will be basically shiny all over your face. Let’s dive into different skin types first-

Dry Skin

Dry skin is basically when your skin doesn’t produce enough sebum to protect itself. Dry skin can feel itchy and flaky due to no sebum which acts as a lubricant to your skin.

To combat dry skin, one must use heavy moisturizer irrespective day or night. Avoid water-based or alcohol-based products. And drink lots of water.

Normal Skin

A normal skin as it indicates is normal; no excessive sebum production or extreme dryness which makes even smiling hard.

A normal skin still needs TLC and normal CTM routine with sunscreen.

Dehydrated Skin

Now, most people think the dry and dehydrated skin is the same. Dry skin lacks sebum production and makes normal facial expression hard while dehydrated skin lacks moisture and looks dull.

Dehydrated skin needs a magic ingredient such as hyaluronic acid to combat dehydrated situation.

Oily Skin

At any given time of the day, your face would mimic disco ball shine, is what you call oily skin.

Now, this can be because of various reasons such as using a foam based cleanser which will rip of face natural oil leaving your skin dry and hence excessive oil production of sebum making your skin oily.

Also because you are using the wrong moisturizer which is glycerin based.

How To Choose The Right Night Cream?

A day skincare routine is essential but a night skincare helps to heal the skin with the help of right skincare.

A night cream is heavier in consistency than day cream and also without SPF. A night cream nourishes the face with all goodness filled in it.

Our body regenerates cells according to the day and night cycle. So while you sleep, a night cream has an ability to heal your problems for your dry, normal, sensitive and oily skin.

Initially, skincare was categorized according to age i.e. the 20s, 30s, 40s, etc. but now it is more target specific, single-handedly working towards your skin issues. These skin issues can vary from hyperpigmentation, dullness, crow’s feet, wrinkles, and sagging skin.

Although there are many on the market which seem too daunting to many people. Here is a rundown on how to choose a night cream based on your skin type.

An ingredient such as hyaluronic acid will help dehydrated skin and add moisture to it. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the skin and providing more of it will only benefit your parched skin.

If you are looking for anti-aging properties look for ceramides, peptides, retinol, etc. but these ingredients are essential in night cream; at night is the time when you are undisturbed and can get all the benefits.

If you are looking for anti-aging properties make sure you use a serum which will provide moisturizing properties such as jojoba oil, shea butter, almond oil etc.

For oily skin type, using an oil-free night moisturizer will be helpful. Anything oil based is a big no-no. Oily skin is more prone to acne. Hence if you are acne prone too, skincare with the natural goodness of tea tree oil is a great option while salicylic acid also helps in reducing acne breakouts.

For dry skin, products which are glycerin or cream based are preferred. Ingredients to look for are shea butter, avocado oil, jojoba oil will impart a lot of lubrication and let the skin breath. A thick moisturizer or cream will lock all the goodness inside the skin and put up a protective barrier.

For sensitive skin, products need to a perfume-less, non-comedogenic, lightweight formula which will not irritate the skin. Chamomile, Aloe Vera, cucumber, neem are some great ingredients which will soothe the skin yet provide much needed TLC.

Going the all-natural way for sensitive skin the best route possible, as there are no harsh chemicals and skin repair with all natural ingredients.
