INDICATIONS & USAGE
ü Management of neuropathic pain associated with diabetic Peripheral neuropathy
ü Management of post herpetic neuralgia
ü Adjunctive therapy for adult patients with partial onset seizures
ü Management of fibromyalgia
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Pregabalin is contraindicated to known hypersensitivity to Pregabalin or any of its components. Angioedema and hypersensitivity reactions have occurred in patients receiving pregabalin therapy.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Pregabalin is given orally with or without food. The maximum recommended dose of pregabalin is 100mg three times.
PRECAUTION:
ü Angioedema- can cause angioedema
ü Hypersensitivity- skin redness, blisters, hives, rash, dyspnea and wheezing.
ü withdrawal of Antiepileptic Drugs( AEDs)
As with all AEDs, withdraw pregabalin gradually to minimize the potential of increased seizure frequency in patients with seizure disorder.
ü Suicidal Behavior and ideation- Antiepileptic drugs(AEDs) including pregabalin increase the risk of suicidal thoughts
ü Peripheral edema- can cause peripheral edema
ü Dizziness and Somnolence
ü Weight gain- can cause weight gain
ü Decreased platelet count – can lead to decreased blood platelet
SIDE EFFECTS:
ü Dizziness and Somnolence
ü Headache
ü Ataxia
ü Asthenia
ü Dry mouth
ü Constipation
ü Edema
ü Blurred vision
ü Weight gain
ü Thinking abnormally
STORAGE:
ü Keep out of reach of children
ü \protect from light and mixture
ü Store below 30°c in dry place
