Tips to Take Care of Yourself in Winter

Tags: skin winter

Winter is the coldest season of the year in polar and temperate zones It occurs after autumn and before spring in each year. During Winter season, most of us have experienced extreme dryness in our Skin no matter how much we take care of it.

As we move to the colder weather, your skin can take a real beating. Stay hydrated by keeping your body hydrated, your skin will naturally follow suit. Swap your moisturizer. Use a rich, oil-based moisturizer during the winter months. Hydrate with a humidifier.

What you put into your body affects your skin in a big way. Try to drink half your weight in ounces of water each day to re-hydrate from the inside out. Drink more water to keep your skin hydrated. As water helps in having younger looking and wrinkle free skin.

Moisturize your skin several times a day. Use suitable body lotions depending on skin type. Use oil base Moisturizer so that oil forms a protective layer on skin during winters. Best way to keep your skin hydrated is by using alcohol free toner, creams and serums

1. Use Lukewarm Water

Hot showers and baths always feel good in the winter, but when you can, particularly when just washing your face or hands; choose lukewarm water to avoid stripping as many oils away from the skin.

2. Choose the right Moisturizer

Your skin not only needs more moisture, but moisture right after you wash. Applying moisture to damp skin helps seal that dampness into the skin. Keep a bottle near the bathtub, shower stall, and at every sink and use liberally every time you wash.

3. Protect your skin

Get used to wearing gloves and scarves to protect skin from cold winds, rain, and snow. Also, don’t forget the sunscreen. Winter sun can be just as damaging as summer sun, so apply a safe option like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide to any exposed areas.

4. Humidity

Bring in a humidifier to get some moisture back into the air. A cheap alternative is to put a bowl of water on the heater - add a few drops of essential oil and you have got a great room fragrance too.

5. Wear protective clothing

Many cold-weather fabrics can aggravate dry winter skin. Wear light layers made from soft, breathable materials directly against your skin, and then pull on your heavier, warmer sweaters. Be sure to protect your hands from cold winter air with gloves.

6. Use Sunscreen

In summer, people often use sunscreens but do not understand this in winter, while the sun's rays make the skin most harmful in winter. People often sunbathe and because of this skin tanning is also become lifeless. To avoid this, it is necessary to use sunscreen in winter.

7. Take Care of your Lips

During winter our lips often become more dry and flaky. So what do we do? The best way to protect and heal dry, cracked lips is to use a natural, conditioning lip balm and apply it to your lips throughout the day. A good balm will provide a barrier of protection, penetrate and heal the skin and not simply coat the skin’s surface.

8. Exercise

Exercise will pump up your heart rate, which in turn, pumps more blood to your organs and skin. It also keeps your pores clear. Exercising makes you sweat, flushing out all the toxins, cleaning the skin, and keeping your internal organs healthy.
