Andropenis: The Penis Enlargement Device That Works?

Highlights

  • Could successful penis enlargement be as simple as applying traction?
  • Andropenis is a mechanical penis extender that may work.
  • Unlike other penis enlargement solutions, Andropenis has some scientific backing.
  • Penis extenders aren’t likely to improve erectile function.
  • To make the most of what you have, FDA-approved drugs like Viagra are your best treatment options.

“Every man wonders about the size of their penis. Lying in bed alone at night, or in a hammock with a parrot, you start thinking: do I have a small penis or just gigantic balls?” – Dave Attell

Do you feel you have a small penis? Chances are you don’t, BTW, but have you ever wished you could enlarge yours without resorting to surgery?

Andropenis is a mechanical penis-lengthening device that may work, according to science. And it may work even better than surgery. The studies have limitations, however, so the jury is still out on how effective it really is.

The Promise of Andropenis

Penis enlargement is one of the mainstays of internet marketing. Thousands of legitimate vendors and scammers alike sell pills, devices, courses, programs, and other male enhancement products to enlarge your organ or make you feel better about its size.

Andropenis is a clinically tested penis extender that claims proven results. It works by exerting a constant pulling force on your penis, mechanically stretching and extending it. Unlike surgery, it is noninvasive.

How is Andropenis different from jelqing, you might ask? Jelqing is a massage technique that involves the stretching and repeated “milking” of the penis from base to glans. We don’t know whether jelqing works for penis enlargement, but we know it may damage the penis through fibrosis and bruising. Fibrosis may actually cause penis shrinkage rather than enlargement.

Andropenis is a device that you wear under your clothes. It doesn’t exert as much mechanical stress on your flesh as jelqing — it merely pulls gently on your organ, leaving you in control of the pulling force. Like jelqing, however, it can also have unpleasant side effects like pain and bruising.

For full penis enlargement benefits, the manufacturer suggests using Andropenis for six months.

Andropenis: The Science

Unlike other penis enlargement devices, pills, and programs, Andropenis appears to be backed by science. But how solid are its scientific credentials?

Spanish Study

In February 2001, Dr. Eduardo A. Gomez de Diego of the Andromedical Clinic in Madrid, Spain, presented a market Study confirming the efficacy of the Andropenis penis enlargement device.

Thirty-seven men took part in the study, agreeing to wear the device for 10 hours daily, from three to six months. During the experiment, they gradually increased the pulling force from 600 to 1,200 grams by the end of the final month. According to the study authors, the results were impressive.

  • The average length increase participants experienced was around 0.5 centimeters per month.
  • At the end of the six months, the average length increase was 3.3 centimeters, or about 1.3 inches.
  • 95% of study participants saw increases in length and girth.
  • The size gains were present in both flaccid and erect states.
  • The device worked equally well for young and older patients.

Study Limitations

While these results seem impressive, there are several limitations that may affect the credibility of the results:

  • The sample size of only 37 men is very small.
  • The study’s author is affiliated with Andromedical Clinic, the manufacturer of the device.
  • The study did not include a control group of men who did not use the device, so we can’t rule out the placebo effect or other confounding factors.
  • The study was presented at a congress and not peer reviewed.

On the plus side, this market study includes statistical analysis that adds a level of scientific rigor to the findings. However, details on the methodology for statistical analysis are limited in the summary.

Andropenis may work better than surgery.

Italian Study

In 2008, researchers at the University of Turin, Italy, conducted a phase 2 study of the Andropenis device. They, too, found Andropenis to be effective. After 6 months, there was a significant increase in mean penile length of 2.3 centimeters (nearly 1 inch) flaccid and 1.7 centimeters (about two-thirds of an inch) stretched.

What’s more, erectile function scores improved significantly.

Patient satisfaction scores indicated acceptable to good improvement in most areas, except for penile girth (circumference).

Stretched Gain0.62-1.260.05-0.820.02-0.730.10-0.23

Researchers also found modest increases in penis circumference during the first three months of the study.

The researchers concluded that Andropenis worked better than surgical options like Z-plasty and as well as radical surgery involving penis disassembly and reconstruction with a cartilage insert.

Andropenis’ side effects were “minimal and self-resolving.” Doctors noted one case of bruising, another case of discoloration, which ended up self-resolving, and a withdrawal from the experiment due to pain.

The study also found that the results Andropenis achieved through a six-month treatment persisted after the end of the experiment.

According to the study, length gains taper off after six months of use. In some cases, a modest lengthwise loss may occur.

If you are thinking about using Andropenis, it may not make sense to use it for longer than six months.

Study Limitations

This clinical study appeared in a respected journal (BJU International), was peer-reviewed, and used objective measurements, lending credibility to the results.

However, there are limitations to this study, as well:

  • The study used a small sample size of only 21 participants.
  • The study didn’t include a control group of men who didn’t use the device, so again, we can’t rule out the placebo effect or other factors that could have affected the results.
  • The Andropenis device was provided to the researchers free of charge, which could introduce bias to the study.
  • The study relied on an unvalidated institutional questionnaire for treatment satisfaction, which can lead to subjective bias.

Other Studies

Other studies that evaluated the efficacy of Andropenis and drew similar conclusions, struggled with similar limitations.

A Chinese study from 2005 found the device to be effective on 30 test subjects.

A 2023 literature review concluded that penile traction devices like Andropenis may help with Peyronie’s disease (curved penis), but do not help with length and erectile function.

What Do Users Say about Andropenis?

User feedback on Andropenis is surprisingly scarce. The device is available in the official Andromedical Amazon shop for $179-$199. As of this writing, there are only a couple of user reviews, and neither is positive.

One user says he hasn’t found the device to be effective. He also mentions that the extender is uncomfortable to wear.

According to another user, the device is “not very well designed.”

Cheaper copies of the device are also available on Amazon. These products have accrued more user reviews.

Some users found these devices useful and granted them 5-star ratings. Others found them uncomfortable.

Bottom Line: Do Penis Extenders Work?

The evidence we currently have is inconclusive. Some scientific studies have concluded that devices like Andropenis work. Others have found them useless for increasing length and improving erectile function.

User feedback is mixed. Some people find extenders useful. Others think they’re uncomfortable and won’t wear them.

Penis size can be deceiving. Erections can turn penises that are small while flaccid into impressive-sized organs. Penis extenders may help you increase the length of your penis, but sporting a strong erection is still the best and most natural way to boost your penis size.

If you struggle with erectile dysfunction, making the most of what you have with FDA-approved medications, like Viagra, Cialis, and Stendra may be your best solution. The generic versions of these medications, sildenafil, tadalafil, and vardenafil (formerly Levitra), work just as well and are more affordable.
