Mother’s Day Gift Guide: 2021

Would you look at that — I’m actually sharing a gift guide in a timely manner! Hooray!! Mother’s Day is just under three weeks away and as someone who always jumps at the chance to spread a little extra love to the mamas in my life, I always have so much fun brainstorming Mother’s Day gift ideas to share with you guys on the blog.

I’ve compiled a variety of gifts I hope will appeal to you as you think of little ways to do something a little special for the mothers, grandmothers, mothers-in-law, moms-to-be and mother figures in your life!

I always enjoy putting these gift guides together to share with you guys despite the fact that they take me an incredibly long time to pull together. I am very picky with the items I include and never feature anything I wouldn’t purchase myself for my mom, mother-in-law or a mother-figure in my life. For this year’s Gift Guide, I included a random assortment of gift ideas from personalized items to useful finds and some beauty favs. I hope something pops out at you for someone special in your life!

Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2021

  • Sun Hat + Towel + Beach Read

I Love that Mother’s Day occurs smack-dab in the middle of spring with summer on the horizon, making it the perfect holiday for gifting something that feels appropriate for the impending warmer weather. A sun hat feels like a fun gift for a mom out there who loves spending time at the beach or pool in the summer months. There are so many styles out there to fit different preferences and needs from athletic hats and visors (I have this one!) to cute raffia fedoras (coveting that one!), wide-brim beachy hats and even packable sun hats for moms who like to travel. Pair the hat with a new towel and a  beach read (love anything by Elin Hilderbrand) for a little something extra!

  • Stoney Clover Lane Surprise

I’ve seen Stoney Clover Lane makeup bags, totes, duffle bags, travel pouches and jewelry cases all over social media for good reason. They’re adorable and customizable and just plain FUN! I actually have the large nylon pouch and absolutely love it. It’s very big — plenty large enough for all of my makeup + skin care when I travel — and I customized it with my initials. I highly recommend using the “Customizer” tool because Customizing their products is a breeze (and really fun!) and you can select various patches (letters, numbers, characters, icons, etc.) to give your special surprise a personalized feel. (I created the “MOM” backpack above using the customizer tool.) If you’re not in the mood to personalize something, they also have an adorable collection of travel-ready pouches and bags. So many fun things!

  • New Beauty Finds

I think many moms out there would a appreciate a beauty-related gift, especially if it’s something you personally love and use and highly recommend. I’ve gifted the fresh SUGAR lip balm before and it’s always a hit — so smooth and moisturizing! I also cannot recommend Hyper Clear Vitamin C Brightening Serum enough. It’s packed with 15 percent vitamin C and vitamin E that help brighten skin, smooth fine lines and rough texture, and dramatically clear dark spots from hyperpigmentation. I’ve developed age spots in my 30s and this is the only stuff that has worked FAST to noticeably lighten them! (Note: This one is sold out all over the place and appears backordered in most instances but I figured it was still worth a mention since it’s so magical.) If you’re looking for sunscreen that feels almost luxurious, I highly recommend Supergoop! Glow Screen. I wore it almost exclusively last summer and love that it gives my face a little pop of color and acts as a primer for makeup, too. On my personal wish list: ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint with SPF 40. I’ve heard great things about this clean beauty brand and am planning to try some of their products when I run out of my current favs.

  • Custom Birth Month Flower Sweatshirt (or T-Shirt)

Isn’t this sweatshirt lovely!? It’s a customizable sweatshirt you can create through an Etsy shop featuring flowers from various birth months. I think this would be such a sweet gift for a mom or grandmother featuring the flowers from the birth months of her babies/grandbabies.

  • Custom Embroidered “Mama” Gear

This embroidered “mama” sweatshirt, this embroidered “mama” tee or this embroidered “mama” hat are the perfect nod to mom in a subtle yet pretty way.

  • Personalized Letters Necklace

Whether the necklace says “MAMA” or a grandmother’s “grandma name” or even the name(s) of a mom’s baby/children, this beautiful necklace has a timeless look with a personalized feel. Some beautiful options: Personalized Letters Necklace – “MAMA” / 14K Gold Initial Necklace / Tiny Personalized Gold Disc Necklace / Maya Brenner Asymmetrical Initial Necklace (the gorgeous splurge version)

  • Barefoot Dreams Blanket

If there’s such thing as a spring/summer blanket, this would be it. I hesitated to put this on this year’s gift guide because it was on SO many gift guides over the holidays but then I got one and I instantly fell in love. You guys, I adore the Barefoot Dreams blanket so much that I pack it with me to bring in the car on long road trips and even got another one (the waffle throw) because I wanted one in two different rooms in our house. Our boys love it as well so it’s a great family blanket with the softest, coziest feel. It’s warm but not too heavy, making it a perfect year-round blanket.

Additional Ideas

  • Simple Modern Tumbler (the affordable Amazon find I adore!)
  • Teresa Heart Earrings (Gorgeous and timeless with a unique feel)
  • O-Venture Key Ring (I love mine so much — currently 20% off with code MOMLOVE)
  • Custom Doormat (for mamas of multiples, I love this one!)
  • Stackable Lunchbox (for an on-the-go mom — love this pink + marble one)
  • Self Care Spa Gift Box
  • New Plant from The Sill (because house plants last longer than flowers)
  • Personalized Wooden Spoon + New Cookbook (For the mom who loves to cook!)
  • Candle + Electric Lighter
  • Puzzle (pick a puzzle theme that means something to her like a puzzle of her hometown or something nostalgic)
  • Personalized Family Portrait (this is a digital download and so, so cute!)
  • DIY Beginner Embroidery Kit (So cute!)
