Maha Shivratri is the most important festival in the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple. During the festival, many devotees visit the temple to pay homage to God. Flowers, honey, milk, water, coconut and Gangajal are given to God. The festival falls twice a year, once in the month of February-March (Maha Shivaratri) and in July-August (according to the Hindu Calendar, the Shravan Mas). The temple is beautifully decorated during both occasions.


Bhootnath Mahadev Temple (14th Floor) –Bhootnath Temple is another temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a renowned temple in the serene area of Swargashram in Ramjhula, Rishikesh. There is a story behind this temple which depicts the time when Lord Shiva was going to marry Devi Sati. It is believed as per Hindu Mythology that this is the place where Mahadev took rest along with his Baraat (procession). That is why one can witness the statue of deities in the multiple floors of the temple. On the 7th floor, you will see a Shivalinga and the ten bells surrounded the lingam. Chandreshwar Mandir – The Chandreshwar Temple in Rishikesh holds its roots from the ancient times as the temple is also found mentioned in Skanda Purana. The holy shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva as Chandreshwar is also the name of Mahadev, depicting the meaning, one who had Chadra (moon).

There are many mythological stories related to the temple. It is believed that this is the place where Lord Shiva mounted Chandra (Moon) on his head to make him rid of the curse given by Prajapati Daksha. Some believe that there is a beautiful love story of King Ram Singh and his wife Chandravati related to this temple.

ManokamnaSiddh Shri Hanumat Peeth Mandir– The famous temple of ManokamnaSiddh Hanuman Temple is located at Mayakund locality in Rishikesh. The temple was built by Swami RamdasUdiya Baba in 1924. The statue is about 9 feet in height, covered with the vermillion paste. The premises of the temple contains a very calm and serene atmosphere, where one can rest and relaxes completely. Virbhadra Temple – Virbhadra Temple in Rishikesh is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a quite peaceful and beautiful place away from the hassle of the main city. The importance of this place is related to the Virabhadra form of Lord Shiva (which is known as the most fierce form of Mahadev, created by him in anger). It is said that when Devi Sati felt insulted at the Yagyaorganised by her father, Daksha Prajapati at Kankhal, She immolate herself by jumping into the HawanKund. Knowing this, Lord Shiva became angry and thrashed his hair on the ground, which led to the birth of his fierce avatar (form), Virbhadra. As per Hindu Mythology, this is the same place where Lord Virbhadra was born and so the place holds great importance.


Bhairav Mandir –BhairavMandir or ShaniMandir in Rishikesh is located on the middle of the city. The beautiful temple is dedicated to Lord Shani and there is also a Shivling surrounded by gann from all sides. On Monday, Tuesday and Saturday, one can witness the visit of many devotees.

Apart from Rishikesh, the ashram is also situated in Nainital, Vrindavan, Kainchi, Farrukhabad, Bhumiadhar, Hanumangarhi, Delhi, Taos, New Mexico, USA and so on. Bharat Temple –Situated at the heart of the main town of Rishikesh, Bharat Mandir Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to “Lord Bharat”. It is believed that the shrine was established by Adi Guru Shankaracharya in 789 A.D. Adiguru established the temple on the sacred day of Basant Panchami, that’s why every year on the same day, the Shaligram is taken from the temple to the Sacred Ganges River for a holy dip, after which, a great procession is done throughout the city.

This ancient temple of Bharat Bhagwan is also found mentioned in the Holy Hindu Books such as Vishnu Purana, Vamana Purana, Shrimadbhagwat, Mahabharat and Narsingh Purana.
