It is obvious question is in mind that what percentage of curcumin, a specific amount of turmeric have? And what amount of curcumin will help in different health condition? We also mentioned that there are some critical factors in absorption and processing of curcumin in your intestine in our earlier article. Here we have picked some therapeutic dosage of curcumin or turmeric for health alignments.

Curcumin to turmeric weight percentage puzzle:

Curcumin is the yellow pigment of turmeric. We have mentioned in earlier that curcumin is the most effective compound of turmeric. For that reason, many researches focus on curcumin rather than turmeric. You know how much curcumin, you should take in a day or at a time. But question is how much curcumin does turmeric has by weight?

One more crucial factor comes here, percentage of curcumin varies with turmeric. And it depends on facts including types of spices, soil of cultivation, process adopted by manufacturer. Nutrient loss also occurs in production process adopted by manufacturer and for all these reason you need to check certification of manufacturer or supplier.

For such reasons you can grow your own turmeric in garden to get fresh and better quality of curcumin. You can grow even in flower pot with a fertile soft soil. It hardly grows to 2-3 feet in height with a soft trunk. All you need a small spice of good quality turmeric root, put it in soil of a pot and moisten the soil at an interval.  It will grow to a bigger bunch of root. And the root of turmeric is the subject of interest.

You can consider nearly 3% or above of curcumin by weight in turmeric as good. Pure turmeric powder had the highest curcumin concentration, averaging 3.14% by weight. (2)In that way 1.5 tsp of turmeric which is around 5 gm of turmeric that contain 3% of curcumin by weight contains 0.15 g of curcumin i.e. 150mg.

In fresh turmeric root there will percentage of water also. And for that reason percentage of curcumin in fresh raw turmeric root will be little lesser than turmeric powder.

And lastly if you find this article as really helpful, we will be really glad to know.
