Homeland Security secretary visits Michigan to ‘build bridges’

Political junkies finding themselves lost between last night’s State of the Union address and tomorrow night’s GOP debate werewelcomed to follow Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson on his trip to Dearborn, Mich., today for the cleverly named #DHSinDearborn event.

As Twitchy reported last night, Rep. Keith Ellison’s transparent effort to stick it to Donald Trump andhave every lawmaker invite a Muslim guest lost steam at around 20. No matter: Johnson took his act on the road today to talk about immigration, #HometownSecurity, and refugees.

First, the good news for everybody: over President Obama’s tenure, the United States has become a safer and more secure nation.

OK, we give up. What is “hometown security”?

We were about ready for a cartoon about all of the widows and orphans seeking refuge in the U.S., and this purports to explain the extensive screeningprocess.

Johnson and entourage then headed to the University of Michigan at Dearborn, where he spoke of the “glory” of public service and the importance of building bridges to Muslim communities.
