2019 Excellence in Education Scholarship Winner

For 17 years, we’ve awarded the $1000 Excellence in Education Scholarship to a local high school senior. As we do every year, we got some wonderful applications from eager students all over our service areas. We look for academic excellence, of course – at least a 3.25 GPA – but also a dedication to a future career in the medical world, whether that might be as a doctor, a nurse, a physical therapist, medical technician, or billing/coding specialist. (You can see what some of our past winners have done with their lives here!) We want to give the future of medicine a little boost by supporting exceptional students with $1000 toward their next big step.

This year the scholarship was awarded to Sedro-Woolley High School Senior Cody Hamilton, who stood out among candidates for the glowing recommendation written by his employer regarding his strong work ethic. Cody plans to study sports medicine at Skagit Valley College–he wants to help people maintain their physical health and stay safe from sports injuries, being an athlete himself with first-hand experience.

Congratulations, Cody! We’re pleased to reward you for your hard work.
