A man from central Portugal made the discovery of many fossilized bone pieces in his yard back in 2017 when he was working on construction on the property. He contacted those in charge of the scientific community, and about a month ago, they discovered many “important” bone components of an animal that was maybe 82 feet long (25 meters) in length. What an incredible discovery! At this point, an important group of parts of the axial skeleton have been gathered from the site. These pieces include vertebrae and ribs, among other things, in good condition, ready to be studied!

This mode of preservation is relatively uncommon in the fossil record of dinosaurs, in particular sauropods, from the Portuguese Upper Jurassic, explained paleontologist Elisabete Malafaia from the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Lisbon in Portugal.
This back garden beast may be a Brachiosaurus altithorax, a Giraffatitan brancai, or the Late Jurassic species that was originally discovered in Portugal’s West area, Lusotitan atalaiensis. Europe has identified multiple genera of Brachiosauridae on the continent, and this back garden monster has been lucky enough to be found again. The preservation qualities of the fossils and the way in which they were arranged point to the possibility of the presence of further pieces of the skeleton belonging to this individual. This theory will be put to the test during future excavation expeditions in the deposit, which can be found here.
The third and last period of the Jurassic Period is known as the Late Jurassic. Pangaea disintegrated into two separate supercontinents throughout the Late Jurassic Epoch. Laurasia was located to the north, and Gondwana was located to the south. The formation of the Atlantic Ocean was directly attributable to the dissolution of these land masses. Having said that, the Atlantic Ocean was a far more limited body of water back then. What fascinating information!
