AstraZeneca in the news 

Earlier today, we revealed that there is a new study that reportedly found a causal link between the viral vector vaccines by AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson and the occurrence of blood disorders.

It seems that the controversy around the covid vaccine continues.

A recent study conducted by the British Medical Journal found that the risk of thrombosis -(this means blood clots that block blood vessels) after an AstraZeneca vaccine was higher than after a Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

“After a first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, there is a 30% higher risk of thrombocytopenia compared to a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine,” the study noted. The very same notes also added that this risk is rare. Check out our previous article in order to learn more details about this. 

New covid vaccine gets Europe authorization 

AstraZeneca’s covid vaccine, Vaxzevria has been granted full marketing authorization in the European Union. This is what the British drug major said in a statement on Tuesday.

Vaxzevria was originally granted conditional marketing authorization, and this was due to the urgency of the pandemic.

NASDAQ notes the following:

“The full marketing authorization is based on the totality of efficacy and safety data confirming the benefits of Vaxzevria. The company noted that full marketing authorization covers the use of Vaxzevria in both a primary vaccination series and as both a heterologous (with an approved mRNA COVID-19 vaccine) or homologous (all the same vaccine) third-dose booster.”

There’s been a lot of controversies regarding the covid vaccines since they got out on the market, and this will probably continue in the future as well.

It’s been just reported that he has “categorically” ruled out that the pharma giant’s chief executive agreed on the European COVID-19 contract via mobile phone text messages.

According to fresh reports, the executive was involved in negotiating a covid vaccine bulk supply agreement with the European Commission.

“The European Commission signed a third contract with BioNTech SE and Pfizer for an additional 1.8 billion doses of its COVID-19 vaccine,” Benzinga’s official website notes.
