This Baby Was Born With the Rare Bilateral Macrostomia Condition, Showing What Appears To Be a Permanent Smile

You might have already heard about a newborn known as Ayla Summer Mucha if you’re using TikTok very often. It’s the name of a baby born last year in December who developed what appears to be a permanent smile, according to The New York Post.

Cristina Vercher and Blaize Mucha are the parents of the newborn, and they have been using the renowned social platform TikTok to let the world know about their baby’s condition. The child is suffering from a very rare condition known as Bilateral Macrostomia.

The parents had to wait a while for the doctors to tell them what had happened to the baby’s mouth. The mother explained as The New York Post quotes:

This made the experience all the more worrying as it took several hours for a doctor to give us an answer,

With this came more difficulties as the hospital had little knowledge or support for such a rare condition.

Cristina Vercher also suggested that she has been very careful during her pregnancy, as she also said, as the same source quotes:

All I could think about as a mother was where I went wrong, especially when I had been so pedantic throughout my entire pregnancy.

The parents of Ayla Summer Mucha are young people. The mother, Cristina Vercher, is only 21 years old. The father, Blaize Mucha, is only 20. They still seemed overall happy to meet their child.

The New York Post also quotes the mother saying:

I am thankful we left the video posted as I have spoken to a number of mothers going through similar experiences,

We will not stop sharing our experiences and favourite memories as we are so proud.

Bilateral macrostomia is so rare that only 1 in 80,000 newborns can deal with it, and it’s found more often in men.
