Addressing public Health issues is perhaps one of the most important things in increasing the awareness level in a community. This is why Ross County decided to change their approach strategy after they received more funds for their Health District. Ben Avery, the local health administrator, stated that this is the perfect moment to start looking at public health from a wider scope in order to see what needs to be improved after such a tumultuous economic period.

What is their plan?

Well, one of their main goals is to change the way in which people look at how funding is distributed in the health department. In order to make things work a great aid would be creating more partnerships between the Ross County Community Health Assessment and other organizations. This would allow all the strategies to be put into plans that would later on be turned into reality.

One example is the fact that recently there has been consistent work done in developing the right kind of infrastructure for this. This means that Ross County is soon going to work with the Adena Health System, the American Cancer Society and, last but not least, Glatfelter, in order to address the damage that smoking does to people in this county and how it relates to the increased number of cases that refer to smoking.

Moreover, there is also a project underway that is interest in increasing the air quality in the county. Other topics such as obesity, diabetes, drug abuse, infant mortality and even respiratory issues are all important topics that need to be addressed and dealt with when talking about the importance of public health.

In seems that after the Health District lost a number of programs late 2016 it is now trying to get back on track and work even harder for the interest of the county’s citizens.
