Is Laser Hair Removal the Most Effective Way to Remove Unwanted Hair?

Is Laser Hair Removal The Most Effective Way To Remove Unwanted Hair?

You have half a dozen or more options to remove unwanted Hair from different areas of your body. You can shave, you can wax, you can use hair removal creams, you can even tweeze. But none of these options result in long-lasting hair removal. Any hair you remove will be back within two weeks, maximum.

For long-lasting and effective hair removal, there’s really only one safe and reliable option: Laser Hair Removal.

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Your hairs contain melanin, which gives it color. A lot of melanin means black hair while little melanin means blonde hair.

Laser hair removal works by using very focused light to target melanin. The light heats up your hair, right at the follicle, destroying it from the root. Without a healthy follicle in place, your hair cannot grow.

It’s important to remember that your hair grows in cycles. This means that not all of your hair follicles have hair in them at all times. You’ll need multiple laser hair removal treatments, 4 to 12 weeks apart, to effectively get rid of hair in a given area.

Because laser hair removal targets melanin, it is not as effective for people with light skin and light hair or very dark skin and very dark hair. However, new technologies do make laser hair removal more effective for Black and darker-skinned people than ever before.

Where Can I Get Laser Hair Removal On My Body?

You can get any area of your body treated with laser hair removal. The most common places include:

  • – Legs
  • – Armpits
  • – Armpits
  • – Back
  • – Chest
  • – Bikini Line

You shouldn’t get laser hair removal near your eyes, as that can damage your vision. You should also avoid treating any areas with tattoos. The lasers might react negatively with the ink, causing skin damage and/or pain.

Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

Unfortunately, there is no way to promise permanent hair loss with any hair removal method. But laser hair removal gets pretty close.

Follicles may heal over time and begin to produce hair again. However, this takes months or even years. And you can always schedule maintenance appointments to keep hair away. If hair does come back, it will likely be thinner and less noticeable than it was in the past.

How to Get Ready for Your Laser Hair Removal

If you’re interested in laser hair removal, you should follow these steps to prepare your skin and hair for your treatment:

Avoid sun and use plenty of sunscreen in the week leading up to your treatment.
Avoid waxing, plucking or electrolysis for at least a month before your appointment.
Shave your hair the day before your appointment so the laser can better focus on hair follicles.
