Awesome Facts About Botox

Botox, the most popular cosmetic Treatment in the United States, is a fascinating and effective treatment for wrinkles, fine lines, and more. From its history to its current uses, Botox is fascinating,

Botox Was Created to Correct Crossed Eyes
Botulinum toxin, the active ingredient in Botox, occurs in nature—but Botox the treatment is isolated, purified, and produced in a laboratory. In the 1980s, it was first used to treat strabismus (crossed eyes) by relaxing the muscles around the eyes. When the injections were still in testing, researchers noticed that injections of Botox also smoothed away wrinkles.

Twelve years later, the FDA approved Botox as a cosmetic treatment after vigorous testing and proof that it was both safe and effective. Botox has also been approved for many other uses—including treatment of headaches, excessive sweating, and urinary incontinence.

Botox Appointments Are Fast—and So Are Results
When injected by an experienced and trained medical professional, Botox appointments only take 15 to 30 minutes total. Treatments are easy to fit into your lunch break, before day care pick-up, or in-between errands.

Because it is noninvasive, Botox results are apparent within a week, after nerves and muscles in the face relax. You won’t have to wait for side effects to fade; the main side effect is redness, which is rare.

Botox Results Are Natural
Though Botox has been the butt of many jokes, the injection doesn’t leave your face looking stiff. When administered by a pro, Botox doesn’t keep your face from making its full range of expressions, from happiness to anger. Results are subtle, so while your friends, family, and coworkers may notice an improved appearance, they probably won’t be able to figure out what changed.

Botox Is Not For Everywhere—Or Every Flaw
Botox is approved for between the eyebrows and around the eyes. It is not currently approved for other areas of the face, like around the mouth.

Botox also can’t do anything to help wrinkles or signs of aging caused by sun damage. It only helps relax away wrinkles related to muscle movements, like squinting or frowning. To treat sun damage, like age spots or fine lines, you’ll need a different treatment like microdermabrasion.
