# STEP 2: Cataract Softening

In a cataract, when the lens turns hard it becomes tougher to operate, and the doctor has to make a deeper incision to remove parts of it. Cataract softening procedure is done to loosen the lens, using ultrasound waves while mapping the eyes. It makes the surgery more accurate, easier, and less painful.
