We really shouldn’t have Blood shortages as if everyone helped out even a little it would save so many lives. This infographic from Study Medicine Europe looks at the importance of blood donation and clears up some of the myths people believe about the process.
One of the most common myths is that giving blood is somewhat unhealthy but any blood that is taken is quickly replenished so there should be no issue here. Another one you commonly hear is that it’s a time consuming process but in most places you’ll be in and out in an hour.
Not only should you give blood but you should also try to encourage people to donate blood. Emphasise to them the genuine need and hopefully you can make a real difference. Remember that every 2 seconds someone needs blood and if not enough is donated people die. Find out more in the infographic.
