How to program your mind for success in 21 days

Tags: subconscious

The Subconscious mind is the silent pilot in our lives. It absorbs everything and has the capacity to help us create the reality which we desire in our lives.

By performing the tips indicated in this article, you will reprogram your subconscious mind and begin to create your own destiny.

According to scientific study, your subconscious mind occupies 90% of your mind while the conscious one occupies only 10%. This silent helper stores information such as your personal beliefs, memories, skills, life experiences, circumstances as well as all the images that you have ever seen in your life.

It also has the ability to trigger emotions automatically and does not have the ability to tell the difference between what is real and what is fictional. As such, it has a significant effect on our lives yet can easily be manipulated. You can actually train your subconscious mind such that it will help you to attract exactly what you desire in life.

THE TRUTH ABOUT OUR THOUGHTS

In actuality, it isn’t your thoughts that produce money, but it’s your thoughts that produce the actions you take in your business that either get you the results you want, or not.

If the previously mentioned 95% of our thoughts are the same thoughts we had the day before, that means you control only 5%. Only 5% of your conscious thought is focused on producing your successful actions.

So if you’re sitting there thinking about, “I want to be successful,” “I’m going to have this house,” that’s only 5% of your thoughts. But what ends up happening is that the 95% of your subconscious thoughts turn into your behaviours, and you subconsciously sidetrack from your conscious successful, goal oriented thoughts.

If you’ve ever try to lose weight and you wake up in the morning you’re like, “I am going to not eat these things,” “I’m going to eat green vegetables all day long,” “Paleo all the way.”

And then somehow by nine o’clock at night, you find yourself with a spoon in a Haagen-Dazs container and you’re like, “What just happened? I was so set on losing these 10 pounds, how did this happen?” That’s called your subconscious mind and the behavior pattern that happens.

And it’s not just not about ice cream. This is about like what happens in your business. Subconsciously what is happening to you if you aren’t actually producing the success you want or you’re not like where you want to be, you’re subconsciously falling into this pattern.

Do you ever decide you are going to finish a project and then at the end of the day find that you just spent the day in the Facebook "black hole"? Or feel like you don't know enough, so you spend a lot of time and money on classes and courses trying to learn it all, only to find

yourself more confused and in debt after?
What is the pattern that’s running in your life? Do you see that there is actually a pattern?

Regardless if it’s trying to lose weight or trying to create your success in your business, the pattern of your mind creates a pattern in your behavior – and affects the results in your life.

How did you feel when things didn’t go the right way? What were the thoughts that preceded the behavior? What were the feelings after? What is the pattern?

The techniques presented below will teach you step by step how to harness the power of the subconscious mind and bring about the results you deserve.

Applying theses subconscious mind techniques takes time, practice and persistence. So don’t expect instant gratification. Instead, appreciate the gradual stages you’ll go through on your way to unleash the power of your subconscious mind.

WHY YOUR SELF-IMAGE MATTERS

Whether you realize it or not, everyone carries a mental blueprint about themselves at a subconscious level. Consciously, you might not recognize it at all, but deep down, it is within all of us.

The self-image is your own conception of the sort of person you think you are. The self-image starts creating itself at a young age and can run your entire life if you let it.

The problem is that most of these beliefs are subconscious. They are based on your triumphs, failures, successes, and even humiliations throughout your life. From all of your past experiences, your brain constructs a picture of yourself and operates from those paradigms.

All of your actions, feelings, and behaviors are consistent with your self-image. You act like the sort of person that you think yourself to be in life. Everything in your life is literally based on your self-image.

If you think you’re dumb in a specific subject like math, your brain will find situations to make it true. If you think you’re the type of person who people don’t want to be around, your mind will also find instances for it be true in your life.

Luckily, you can change your self-image without positive thinking or endless amounts of willpower. These two habits affect the conscious mind which only runs 5% of your day. To create lasting change, you need to recreate your self-image at a subconscious level.

Here is how to re-program your subconscious mind for greatness and success.

ACTIVATE YOUR SUCCESS MECHANISM

“The so-called subconscious mind is not a “mind” at all, but a mechanism — a goal-striving “servo-mechanism” consisting of the brain and nervous system, which is used by, and directed by the mind.” — Maxwell Maltz

Every human being has what is known as a “creative mechanism,” and if used properly, it can become a success mechanism. It’s known commonly as your reticular activating system (or RAS). It can act as your secret weapon to reprogram your subconscious mind and create miracles in your life.

Your success mechanism is impersonal and will help you achieve whatever goals you set. If you program it with success goals, it will function as a success mechanism. If you present it with negative goals, it will operate as a failure mechanism. It’s not meant to help you thrive, it’s meant to help you survive more than anything else.

Your brain and nervous system are continually leading you in the direction of the image you think about both consciously and subconsciously. This is why it’s vital to focus on what you want in life, not on what you don’t want.

So every day, spend as much of your time as possible thinking about what you want in life. You can do this in several different ways:

  • Write your goals down in a journal.

  • Visualize and imagine your goals them coming to life.

  • Use affirmations and speak your goals as if they have already happened.

Over time, these habits can trick your brain into success by helping you think you achieved the goal before you actually have done it.

The reason?

Your success mechanism doesn’t know the difference between what is real and imagined.
So focus 100% of your energy on what you want, not what you don’t want. Over time through repetition, it will help you bring your goals to life.

Visualize the success that you want

One of the most effective ways to reprogram your subconscious mind is by visualizing exactly what you desire for your life. Examples of such a vision is seeing yourself living in a beautiful home of your own, having a specific number of kids, performing your dream job or even running a particular business. When you visualize specific things, you are able to direct your subconscious mind to the desired direction. When you know where you are going, your subconscious mind will get you there.

Start a gratitude journal.
The best way to start putting yourself in a headspace of “having” rather than “wanting” is to begin a gratitude practice.

By expressing thanks for all that you do have, you shift your mindset from being hungry for change to feeling satisfied with where you are at. Nothing magnetizes abundance to you like gratitude. There’s a saying that once you believe you have enough, you are open to receiving more and more and more. That is undoubtedly true.

Engage in positive self-talk

Similarly to engaging in affirmations, self-talk is highly important to us. According to a book written by Shad Helmstetter and titled "What to Say When You Talk To Yourself", we spend more time talking to ourselves than any other person on a daily basis. The things which we tell ourselves determine our mood, decisions and attitude and, yes, we are highly likely to believe the things which we tell ourselves. By taking control of your self-talk, you can start to live your life according to the way you want it.

Your subconscious mind can believe this self-talk and begin to manifest the things which you tell it. As such, right after your affirmations spend some time every day making positive self-talk about the things which you desire in your life. By repeating this every single day, you are guaranteed to start creating a new positive reality for yourself.

Behave as though your dream has already been fulfilled

As you program your subconscious mind, you need to act as though the change you desire has already happened. Programming your mind requires that you envision yourself in the state which you want. When you begin to behave and act as though you have already achieved the thing which you desire, your subconscious will get attuned to this reality and you will experience this change in your life.

If you want to be wealthy, you need to start acting like a wealthy person. Perform some research and find out the behaviour of wealthy people. Once you identify what they do, proceed to mimic the things that you can. Over time, your subconscious will catch on and continue the process. You will find yourself achieving exactly what you wanted and so much more.

Engage in affirmations

Being a declarative statement which you make to yourself, and to reprogram your subconscious mind, you can engage in repetitive positive affirmations. Affirmations actually become self-fulfilling prophecies after a while.

According to a leading neuropsychiatrist named Dr. Mona L. Schulz, repeating affirmations physically actually changes the neural pathways in your brain. This works to eventually produce and help you in acting upon the new belief which you have.

Affirmations are a highly effective way to reprogram your subconscious mind and examples of affirmations can be "I shall use my talents, gifts and abilities to create wealth" or "I am living a life of purpose and wealth."

Influencing Your Dreams
This idea is really interesting!  It’s about influencing your dreams, so they work for you! Dreams are very unconscious and appear to be outside of our direct control.  Dreaming is how your subconscious minds stores important information, skills, and experiences into long term memory  However, you can influence this and here is how to do it.

As you are going to sleep, think about an issue that you would like solved. Then mentally hand this over to your subconscious mind as you go to sleep.  The key is not to think about a specific answer or the specific ways that the issue will be solved.  Instead, you think about the issue and the positive outcome as you go to sleep.

The answer may then appear in your dreams or you wake up with a new insight, a solution or something that you hadn’t thought of.  If you wake up during the night with a new insight, then it is important that you write it down straight away. You may not remember it in the morning.  One way to do this is to have a dream notebook by your bed so you can write these things down easily during the night.

When you go to sleep, your brain waves slow down and your subconscious mind becomes much more receptive to new ideas.  This is one of the reasons why this process can be a very effective way to reprogram your subconscious mind for success.

Meditation

Performed for centuries, meditation is a highly effective way to reprogram your subconscious mind while creating a sense of tranquility and stillness in the mind. This prepares it for any thoughts which you desire to implant in it: Meditation makes your subconscious mind much more receptive.

When you create ambitious goals and plans, give them time to take root in your subconscious mind by meditating. Another benefit of meditation is that it helps you to train your mind such that it can maintain focus for a long time without getting distracted which enables you to engage more actively in the daily activities you perform so as to achieve your goals.

Law of Exposure

The Law of Exposure states, what you expose yourself to dramatically shapes how you think, feel and act. Applying the Law of Exposure proactively takes deliberate action daily. It is a moment to moment conscious choice. If what you expose yourself to is not a reflection of that which you want to create more of in your life than you are going to be working against yourself.

Do the television programs you watch represent how you want to think, feel and act?
Do you watch programs or movies that reflect your values, goals and highest good?

Success = Your Values, Goals and Highest Good

Everything is programming your mind. Your mind records everything you experience, whether you consciously remember it or not. This includes all sensory and perceptive exposure to people, your environment, music, the computer, television etc… What you take in from your environment influences how you think, feel and act.

Is your environment programming your mind for success or failure? If it represents your values, goals and highest good then you are programming your mind for success. If it does not reflect these elements than it is time to evaluate what you expose yourself to.

Programming Your Mind For Success

Make a list of what you expose yourself to on a daily or weekly basis. This list includes television programs, music, movies, internet, people, environments, social scenes, etc.
