How To Optimise Your Pinterest Profile

The Power of Pinterest

Pinterest is the fastest growing website with 150 million active monthly users.

Pinterest is also the number one source of traffic to my blog. I have loved experimenting with different strategies to see what works best.
It’s been trial and error but now my hard work has begun to pay off, I’m excited to share my strategies with you.
We will start with optimising your account. After all Pinterest is a search engine (not social media) and you need to make sure your content can be seen.

Now, before we start please ensure you have converted to a business account. This gains you access to Pinterest analytics and allows you to verify your website.

Your name

It is important to use your own name alongside the name of your blog/business. You need your readers to connect to you as a person.
The next thing you must do is to add keywords to your name. Choose words that tell people exactly what you do and how you can help them.

As an example, here is my account name
.

As you can see my chosen keywords are very specific to my niche and give people a very clear idea of what they will get from following me.

Your photo

A personal photo of yourself is preferable. This helps to personify your blog/business.Use a well lit headshot and remember, never use a selfie!
A blog or business logo is also acceptable.

Your link

Don’t forget to add the link to your blog/business and verify it. This allows people to check out your site directly from your profile.
It’s also a good idea to add your location.

Your description

Your description must tell the reader exactly what service your blog/business provides. You have 200 characters to get this across, so be clear and concise.
Make sure to keep the same theme as your account name and always include your chosen keywords from your name.

My description is short but to the point. It includes my keywords and tells my readers exactly what I can do for them.

Account branding

Do you have a colour theme/logo for your blog or business? It is important to carry this through to your Pinterest Account.
Choose a colour and stick with it. Design your own matching board covers and label them clearly. Always be consistent with colours and fonts.

The Facebook templates on canva are a perfect size for this.

Be sure to look out for the next post in the series, where I tell you how to make amazing Pinterest boards and how to manage them.
