April 10, 2018. A mother from Rochdale who was born with HIV wants more women to get tested. The virus levels are so low in Paida Mutopo that she isn't at risk of passing it on. Her son has been tested and has no signs of the disease. She hopes that by speaking out she can show women that there is no stigma. A quarter of people living with HIV in the North West are women but according to one charity campaigns are too focused on gay men. Research by the Terrence Trust reveals almost half of women with HIV were diagnosed late. ITV.

April 9, 2018. So many populations are affected by HIV/AIDS, including the LGBTQ community, the black community, and women and girls. In fact, the most recent statistics from the CDC show that young people ages 13 to 24 accounted for 22% of all new HIV diagnoses in the United States in 2015. Of those diagnoses, approximately 81% were gay and bisexual males. The most affected populations were young black and African-American gay and bisexual males, as well as young Hispanic/Latino gay and bisexual males. Of all new diagnoses among males, 55% were black, and 24% were Hispanic/Latino. Teen Vogue.

February 26, 2018. Vancouver: HIV Epidemic in the 90's now created a Plethora of discarded dirty needles all over the city. The media won't show you what's truly going on in the city. We have several Needle Exchange places where drug addicts can get all the free needles,cookers,ties. There has been cases of pets and children being poked by needles in our local parks, but drug addicts lives matter more. Liveleak.

January 11, 2018. New capsule being tried for HIV medication that you only have to take once-a-week. Normally, you have to take antiretroviral drugs everyday. If you don't, the consequences can be really damaging. It's being trialled on pigs and will be hoping to try it on humans in two years. BBC World Service: Health Check.

September 18, 2017. 20 people have been arrested in Tanzania's semi autonomous archipelago and Zanzibar for alleged homosexuality. Police said they were picked up in hotel where they were receiving training about HIV and AIDs education programmes. The police have accused them of spreading awareness about homosexually which is banned in Tanzania. BBC World Service News Hour.

July 31, 2017. Could offering routine 'HIV tests' for people when they register with a new GP in high risk areas save lives and be cost effective, Well a study by two London Universities believed it would, and is calling for screening to be rolled out throughout England. One charity wants health care commissioners to act on the findings. A simple finger prick test which cost the NHS around £25.00 is all that's needed to find out if whether you're HIV positive or not. It's thought more than 13,000 people in the UK are living with the virus that causes AIDS, and don' yet know it. BBC London News.

July 31, 2017. If someone is diagnosed early with 'HIV', all they have to do is take one pill a day and they will be fine. Radio London News.

July 27, 2017. This treatment has been a huge success story turning 'HIV' from something which developed into AIDS and was fatal, to a manageable long term condition, but it does mean if you're diagnosed at the age of twenty, you could end up taking 20.000 tablets in your life  time. November 2, 2017. A disease that affects ten times as many people as HIV. 'Viral hepatitis' which inflames the liver. There are five types of hepatitis, A, B, C, D, and E, spread through contaminated food and water, or via blood or other bodily fluids depending on the type. Four out of five patients with hepatitis C don't even know they're infected, but in the long term, they might develop cancer or cirrhosis of the liver, leading to 1.3 million deaths worldwide each year. The W.H.O wants to eliminate hepatitis C by 2030, and some countries like Egypt, Georgia and New Zealand are on track. Others like the US and the UK aren't. At the world hepatitis summit in South Paolo in Brazil this week, delegates will be discussing how and whether elimination can happen.  BBC World Service: Health Check.

September 27, 2017. Hundreds of people are now eligible to claim damages from the government over an alleged contaminated blood scandal in the NHS. Victims and their families of people who claim they were infected have won a ruling allowing them to seek compensation. Its alleged thousands of haemophiliacs were given imported blood which carried hepatitis B and HIV in the 70s and 80's.  Magic FM.

September 16, 2017. The number of people getting diagnosed with HIV is dropping, but not in Chile where there's been a 45% increase over the last 5 years.  Especially between people from 20 - 29 years old because of new cases every year and more people getting tested. We think round 65,000 people have HIV, but only 41,000 people have been diagnosed with it. The most vulnerable group are men having sex with other men. Now the situation has changed because of medical advances and treatment is free in Chile,  fewer people are dying. August 26, 2017. From next month, England's NHS will pay for a controversial drug to prevent HIV. It will be available for 10, 000 high-risk patients such as gay men and sex workers. Known as prep, it disables the HIV virus before is can take over the body, although it does not prevent the spread of sexual diseases such as gonorrhoea. Daily Mail.

August 4, 2017. 'HIV' prevention drug rolled out on NHS...at a cost of £10.000.000. Daily Mail. Anyone who becomes HIV positive will need about £250.000 of care, so you only need about 30 people to get to that 10 million figure. The Wright Stuff. Channel 5.

July 26, 2017. 10.000 lives could be saved every year if people who received 'HIV treatment' late, their also given a bundle of drugs to prevent other illnesses. Their study focused on poor countries in Africa, Uganda, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Kenya where many sufferers don't get crucial drugs needed for HIV treatment until the virus has already taken hold. July 24, 2017. South African doctors say a 9 year old child who contracted 'HIV' at birth is showing no symptoms of the disease now. The child was given Anti-retroviral drugs for the first few months, but has received no treatment since. Scientists say understanding how the child is protected could eventually lead to new drugs against HIV. BBC News.

July 23, 2017. It was during the HIV epidemic in the 1980's when the UK banned men from giving blood. But 6 years ago that changed and those abstaining from sex for 12 months were allowed to 'donate blood'. The same applied for people who'd been sexually active with a high risk of HIV, or high risk partner. Sex worker were still permanently banned. But new testing techniques have established that infectious diseases such as HIV and hepatitis B and C show up in the blood stream well within 3 months. News & Sunday papers. BBC Radio 4.

July 12, 2017. 'NHS contaminated blood transfusion scandal'. There has been evidence here of falsification of peoples medical records. Tests being done without peoples knowledge or consent. And the results of those tests, even when they confirmed a positive diagnosis of hepatitis C or HIV not being communicated to the individuals effected, and subsequently in some cases, their partner has been infected. That's the depth of this cover up. One example.
