CVS Implementing & Expanding Affordable Telehealth To Two More States

The concept of healthcare access has been changed in the wake of COVID-19. With social distancing in effect, healthcare is now accessible with a smartphone and a reliable internet connection. Diagnosis, treatment and payment all brought to the tips of consumers fingers.

Telemedicine development and implementation has skyrocketed in recent times and with good cause, they help save lives and they improve patient outcomes. Not to mention they streamline the entire care delivery model in addition to improving patient engagement. With all of these benefits and so much more, it is of no surprise that when the pandemic provided an opportunity for the use of this tech, it took full advantage of it. As a result a growing list of health systems has started offering telemedicine services.

CVS Health is one such health system and according to the report on Chain Store Age, they have started providing Telehealth services through their MinuteClinics. They have also expanded this service to two fortunate states, Massachusetts, one of the largest telemedicine users and Georgia. The most notable thing here is that the MinuteClinic video visit costs $59, with most Aetna insurance plans providing coverage.

MinuteClinic walk-in medical clinics located at CVS stores in Georgia and Massachusetts states now offer care for minor illnesses, minor injuries and skin conditions through video visits. This telehealth service provides customers 2 and older with access to care 24 hours a day, seven days a week from their mobile device or computer, including via the Cvs Pharmacy App. For availing the virtual service, each customer will complete a health questionnaire and be matched to a board-certified health care provider licensed in their state. Prior to the start of the video-enabled visit, the provider will review the completed questionnaire together with the patient’s medical history. During the video visit, the provider will assess the patient’s condition and determine the appropriate course of treatment following evidence-based clinical care guidelines. For patients that require prescriptions, the physician can submit the prescription to the patients choice of pharmacy.
