Commitment

Commitment is a big word. It can be attributed to a lot of aspects of our lives. Family. Our spouses. Work. School.

And even fitness and where we want to see ourselves at whatever point.

Commitment is simply you saying that you are going to stay loyal and do what you said you would. It’s an action that you say you’ll do and you do.

A commitment is an action we said we would do and staying to it even when that Awesome Mood we were when we said is long gone. Take for instance when you say you’re going to start working out. You feel motivated. You feel amazing. Perhaps you’ve even gotten a few workouts under your belt, but what about when it gets hard? When that awesome mood leaves you.

Stay committed. Don’t quit. Keep pushing forward and honor that agreement you made with yourself. We’re so quick to break off our commitments to ourselves while we honor it to those around us.

So stop breaking your commitment to yourself. Even if you go to the gym for 1 hour. Just 1 hour out of 24. That is only 4% of your entire day. We do a lot of crap throughout our day. We eat. Sleep. Work. Some of us do homework and a lot of us watch TV.

What’s the Excuse for not spending even 1 hour at the gym? What’s our excuse for eating shit?

And that’s all we have are excuses. I’m too tired. I didn’t want to make my lunch. I don’t like this. I don’t like that. The gym is crowded. I don’t feel like going. It’s too expensive.

Well, guess what. Stop it. Even if you don’t go to the gym you can still work out. You can go for a run. You can do exercises at home.

Keep your commitment to yourself. Getting fit will not be easy and it will not happen overnight. Think about how you go to the point you’re at and how long it took. I know it took me the better part of 10 years to get to this point. It will be hard work. It will take sacrifice, but if it wasn’t hard everyone would do it.

So find a partner. Find support. Find someone who will encourage you to be the best that you can be.

And remember that in 3 months, if you keep that commitment to yourself, you’ll be saying thank you….to you.
