You Don’t Have To Be Perfect

When we go to the gym we’re expecting instant results.

You work hard, you’re sweating. You feel amazing!

But you look in the mirror when you’re changing and getting a shower and see absolutely no difference. I know when I look at myself and I still see me. I see the lumps, the stretch marks, the imperfect skin and I’m left disappointed.

But I have nobody to blame but myself. Especially since I’ve fallen off the workout wagon.

I admit it.

I stopped working out. I stopped caring. I let myself go again.

Not because I wanted to but life got in the way. The holidays. Work. And a bit of a health crisis that I’m hoping is going to be resolved next week. Hope.

However, those are all excuses. Excuses are no reason to not keep up with being healthy.

It’s not about being perfect though. It’s about the amount of effort that we’re Putting into our days. Are we keeping up with the diets. Are you working out? Are you putting in that effort? The transformation that we seek will come with time. We see all of those girls and guys on Instagram. Their before and after pictures are both motivational and depressing. What we’re seeing is the after though. We’re seeing how they look after all of the hard work. The year, 2 years, 3 years that they’ve dedicated to sculpting their body.

Stop comparing yourself to them. Take pride in what you’ve already accomplished. Have you gone a week without a soda? Be proud of yourself. Have you gone two weeks without McDonald’s? Be proud of yourself! Take pride in every accomplishment you’ve done.

And while we think it’ll never happen. We think we’re putting ourselves through pain for no reason, but you will see it. It will happen. It takes patience and perseverance. So don’t give up. Don’t feel like all is for not.

If you feel like giving up find that support. Find someone who is going to push you to keep moving. To keep eating healthy. Who won’t ask you to drink that beer. Or have that pizza. Find someone who is going to encourage you in your healthiness and will route for you.

Don’t quit, do it!
