Just Get There

I’ve noticed that the Hardest part of my Workout is simply getting to the gym.

I’m not sure what it is about me that makes the hardest part of anything is getting dressed to go. My family is notorious for showing up late. I was almost late to my own wedding. The only time anyone has been early was my boys. The decided to be born 6 weeks early. Last time that ever happened.

But it’s not just me. I hear it so much. I don’t have the time. I’m tired. I have no motivation.

I feel ya. Trust me, I feel ya.

That’s the hardest part though. Getting to the gym. Once you’re inside it’s easy. You just have to do the workout. While that’s tough, you’re there. You’re doing it. You’re taking that step to better yourself.

Which is what we’re all after, right? A happier, Healthier us. We want more energy. We want to be able to run around with our kids and not get short of breath. Hell, I want to be able to carry loads of laundry upstairs without feeling like I’m having a heart attack.

But we have to take that first step.

Getting our asses to the gym, or outside, or wherever you do your workout.

That’s, literally, half the battle. The other half is doing it.

It’s hard though. It’s difficult making that decision to make that life change. Which is what this is. A life style change. You can run and lift till your heart’s content but if you still eat like shit and lay around the rest of the day, what are you accomplishing? It takes dedication and will power to make ourselves better.

That’s my goal.

To be better. To be healthy. To be trim and fit so I don’t feel like shit.

I look at my weight loss journey how I look at my life, whatever I put in I get back. If I put in the hard work and effort to make myself a healthier person, I’ll be rewarded with a lot of benefits that come with that hard work. Like being more positive. Exercising makes you happy. Eating healthy makes you happy.

Before I started this I was a miserable person who just went through the days. Last summer I wouldn’t even go to the pool because I hated myself. This year…. We’re going.

And it all started with just getting there. I took that hard step and sucked up my shyness to do the hard part. Once I did, I realized it’s not so scary.

So take that hard step. Get to the gym. Get moving. Be active.

Happy workout friends!
