Driscoll Day Of Family Fun at Bentsen State Park, April 13th            

Driscoll Health Plan (DHP) is partnering with Texas Children in Nature Network (TCiNN), Bentsen – RGV State Parks (BRGVSP) and UTHealth Houston School of Public Health – Brownsville (UTHealth) to create a unique  approach when it comes to introducing health-related activities. Focusing on health initiatives throughout the state; state parks and community resources are coming together to provide an inclusive event to the community to encourage healthy habits. Event will introduce activities and beneficial lifestyle changes that will aid mental health along with increasing physical health for the community of the lower Rio Grande Valley. Focusing on health initiatives throughout the state; state parks and community resources are coming together to provide an inclusive event to the community to encourage healthy habits. Event will introduce activities and beneficial lifestyle changes that will aid mental health along with increasing physical health for the community of the lower Rio Grande Valley.

As an advocate for children’s rights in Texas for outdoor recreation, TCiNN has collaborated with local and state officials as we create an event for the community, called “Healthy Park Healthy People”.  BRGVSP has been generous in providing the location for this event along with access to the state park at no cost. BRGVSP has a large resaca where the community will learn  basics kayak knowledge and exploring the resaca. Registration is recommended for several activities such as fun walk/hike in the park, kayaking, dental services, and application assistance. DHP has partnered with organizations to provide health education presentations along with planning and coordinating health screenings/ resources with UTHealth. UThealth will conduct wellness screenings at no cost for the community as well as provide instructors for inclusive chair yoga and chair Zumba for all ages.
