Know the Difference between Introverts, Extroverts & Ambiverts

You might have met many different people in your life. Some like to be private and secretive, some like to be straightforward and love socializing, some only have few friends, and there are many different types of people.

So the question arises is how to divide them based on their personality? There are three types of personalities based on their characteristics.

Recognize Introverts, Extroverts & Ambiverts:

The three different types of personalities of people are Introverts, Ambiverts, and Extroverts.

Let’s explore each one in brief first then will discuss traits of personalities and career opportunities for them.

What is an Introvert?

An introvert is a person who is reserved, loves spending their alone time, and they are shy too. They love their personal space and alone time.

What is an Extrovert?

An extrovert is a person who is people’s person. Extroverts love being around people. They are always energized and ready-to-go people.

What is an Ambivert?

An ambivert is a person who has both the qualities of  introverts and extroverts. They have both the intraversion and extraversion in them.

They enjoy being with people but need their alone time to recharge themselves.

Traits of Introverts, Extroverts and Ambiverts

I am going to explain 15 traits of Introverts, Extroverts, and Ambiverts in the table below, so you can compare each to identify them better.

1. They love enjoying their alone time. Extroverts love people and socializing. As Ambiverts are a combination of both, they love socializing but they need their personal space-time to recover.
2. Introverts always think and analyze things before they act. Extroverts do not think too much before acting. Ambiverts sometimes think before doing things. They do not put much effort into just thinking.
3. Introverts are the more reserved type of people. Extroverts love to socialize and have many friends. Ambiverts go according to their mood. They sometimes love being with people and sometimes love being alone.
4. Introverts prefer working independently. Extroverts are more of team-workers. Ambiverts can adjust their work life. They can work in both situations.
5. Introverts are usually good writers and listeners. Extroverts are good with their words verbally. Ambiverts are usually good, both verbally and in writing too.
6. Introverts prefer texting over calling. Extroverts prefer calling over texting. Ambiverts can adjust to both things. They do not prefer anything specifically.
7. Introverts are calm, composed, and usually shy. Extroverts are always energetic and enthusiastic. Ambiverts go according to their mood.
8. They tend to think before they talk. Extroverts are straightforward and sometimes blunt. They don’t put their time in thinking too much. Ambiverts think before they speak and they do not overthink.
9. Sometimes introverts are considered rude because they don’t get along with people easily but it’s not true. Extroverts sometimes come off as rude as they don’t think before speaking and speak their hearts, be it a harsh truth. Ambiverts balance both things; being silent and being talkative.
10. Introverts usually don’t like surprises. They want to be prepared for everything. Extroverts love surprises. They love change. It’s up to their mood whether they are in mood of any surprise or not.
11. Introverts are great observers. Extroverts are good speakers. Ambiverts are both observers and speakers.
12. They prefer to stay out of the limelight and avoid being center of attention. Extroverts loves being in the limelight. They love being appreciated. They don’t love being the life of the party but they also don’t mind much attention.
13. They tend to bottle up their emotions. Extroverts don’t make any problems with sharing their feelings with almost everyone. Ambiverts usually share their feelings but only with their limited people.
14. Introverts enjoy being in their comfort zone. Extroverts enjoy doing all sorts of tasksand things. Ambiverts do things according to their mood and choices.
15. Introverts don’t open up easily to people. Extroverts open-up to people very easily. They don’t find it difficult to trust people. Ambiverts are friendly people but they don’t have too many friends or a big circle.

Career for personality types

In this section, I am going to explain how introverts, extroverts, and ambiverts should choose their career after knowing their abilities.

1. Careers for Introverts

As they are good observers, creative and do not like socializing much, career that do not require communicating much is good for them.

For example: Work from home jobs, Writing jobs, Psychologist, Scientist, Author, Chef, Painter, etc.

Introverts also make great business and are great entrepreneurs. In fact, the world’s most successful entrepreneurs are introverts. They are great leaders too.

For example, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffet and Steve Wozniak are introverts.

2. Careers for Extroverts

Extroverts are the life of the party and so they are good with almost every career that includes energy and people. They make great PR’s, Marketers, Politicians, Salesmen, Team-leaders, Businessmen, Police officers, Reporters, Sportsperson, Actors, etc.

Extroverts are good with people. So everything that requires people, confidence, energy, and enthusiasm are great careers for extroverts.

3. Careers for Ambiverts

As Ambiverts combine the traits of both Introverts and Extroverts, they tend to be able to do both the types of careers.

As they are flexible, they can do almost all types of jobs. They just need to be able to take some time out for themselves and take rest.

Ambiverts make good Photographers, Representatives, Managers, Psychologists, Journalists, Therapists, etc.
