7 Simple Hacks To Develop A Morning Routine That Will Set The Mood For The Whole Day

Your Morning Routine is extremely important to your overall health and to the way you live your life. People often don’t realize the importance of the first few hours of the day, and therefore don’t get the most out of them.

If you do things right, the first couple of hours of your day can set you up for success – you can get a lot done and begin a productive day. However, if you get it wrong, then you may find yourself feeling pretty down for most of the day, and won’t reach your full potential.

There are hundreds of different tips and tricks that people use to get their day off to a good start. We have picked out seven of the best and outlined them below for your benefit. Use the following morning hacks to get into a decent routine which will help you get the most out of every single day:

1. Set up your Coffee maker to wake you up:

If you are lucky enough to have a fancy coffee maker, then make use of it! Many coffee makers have a programming function which allows you to set them up before you go to bed and tell them to brew your coffee at a certain time. Use this in conjunction with your alarm so that you wake up to the smell of fresh coffee – this will undoubtedly get your day off to a good start! Although the coffee fanatics among us may protest this method, it really does work if you are someone who struggles a little when waking up in the morning.

2. Exercise for a few minutes before work:

There is no better way to get your blood flowing and your mind switched on in the morning than by exercising. You don’t have to do a full workout or go for a long run: a few minutes of intense activity are more than enough to kick-start your day. Some things you could do include:

A few sets of push ups
Some sit ups or crunches
Install a wall mounted pull up bar and do some chin ups
Even simple stretching or yoga is better than nothing, as it will remove the stiffness from your joints and help you wake up in style.

3. Put your alarm clock away from your bed:

Many people fall into the trap of setting their alarm clock, but putting it right next to their pillow where they can easily hit the snooze button. If you are this kind of person, then you could benefit from putting your alarm on the other side of the room. This will force you to get up as soon as it rings so that you can turn it off. Although it may seem like a simple action, it will save you a lot of time in the morning and will kick start your day and get you off on the right foot!

4. Have a shower or wash your face as soon as you wake up:

A cold shower can help wake you up even if you are a little hungover or haven’t had enough sleep. Head straight from your bed to the bathroom and see what a difference it makes. Even if you simply splash your face with cold water before you drink your coffee you will suddenly feel a lot more refreshed. Wash the sleep away to kick start your day!

5. Have your coffee and breakfast outside:

There is nothing quite like a blast of fresh morning air to help you wake up on the right foot. Rather than sitting inside at the table or on the couch for your breakfast, consider heading outside to remove all visions of sleep from your mind. Although it could be tempting to rug up and stay warm, don’t. A little bit of cold air will actually be good for you, and will clear any cobwebs and help you focus your brain on the tasks you have for the day.

6. Allow yourself plenty of time in the morning:

Don’t set your alarm to the latest time possible and force yourself to rush in the morning. Make sure that you are able to do everything you need to before you leave for work. This might mean missing out on a little bit of sleep, but you will feel much better because of it. However, if you aren’t a natural morning person then don’t try and force yourself to get up too early: there is no point.

7. Brighten your home up:

Waking up to bright, lively colors is a great way to kick-start your day. It can help your brain switch on in the morning, can make you more willing to get up, and can help you get a move on with your morning routine. Paint your house in bright colors, hang lively and interesting paintings on the walls, and even add some plants to your living areas to help your day get started on the right foot!
