Rest assures that if you are stressed you will most likely go on to have a healthy Baby. It’s normal to be a bit stressed about the changes that are happening in your life and to your body.

But if you’re stressed and anxious day in, day out, ask your midwife or doctor for the help. Continuous and high levels of anxiety may affect your baby. That’s because the stress hormone cortisol can cross the placenta and influence the building blocks of your baby’s emotional development.

Here are some positive steps that you can follow to reduce stress during pregnancy:-

1) Rest And Focus On Your Baby:- Pregnancy is a stage in which mother shoud focus totally on her baby as this period is the most crucial one both for the mother and the baby. The main foucus should be on the baby bump. If you are feeling stressed out chat and sing with your unborn baby. From about 23 weeks he may hear you, as it may helps in creating a strong bond between you and your baby.

2) Talk About It:- If you have worries about your baby’s wellbeing, or a personal matter, you can always turn to your midwife for reassurance. Don’t be frightened to admit how you are truly feeling. If you are honest, you are more likely to get the support you need. Talk to your partner too. You may discover that you share similar kind of worries, or that your partner has concerns you didn’t even knew about. Talking things through can make you both feel better.

3) Eat Well:- Eating well and a balanced diet is good for your mind and baby. A well balanced diet with all the Omega Fatty Acids, vitamins and minerals is necessary as the baby needs all the necessary nutrients. The omega-3 fatty acids found in oily fish and sea food may help to reduce depression. Try to have two portions of oily fish, such as tuna, salmon, mackerel, sardines etc a week.

Keep an eye on how much water you’re drinking, as dehydration may affect your mood. Dehydration can also make you more prone to headaches. Aim for six to eight glasses (about 1.5 litres) of fluid a day.

4) Take Exercise Regularly:- Exercise can definitely lift your mood up and it’s definitely safe to exercise during pregnancy. If you didn’t exercise before your pregnancy period, now it might be a good time to start. Make it gentle exercise, though. Try to build exercise into your daily life. At work, get up and walk around as often as you can, especially if you are desk-bound. Pop out at lunchtime for some fresh air, even if it’s only for 10 minutes.
