With the increasing numbers of people being diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), it is no surprise that the need for dental appliances in treating it has also increased.  The American Academy of Sleep Medicine has recommended these dental devices for mild to moderate sleep apnea for those not able to tolerate a continuous positive air pressure mask (CPAP) with sleep, or whose condition has not been successfully treated with CPAP.  It is essential for effective treatment that these devices be fitted by a dentist trained in this treatment modality.
