Reiki is a profound Energy healing modality.  As a Reiki master in Toronto, I am actively adding to the Reiki modality.  Many Reiki practitioners don’t know that Reiki originates from the Japanese martial art Aikido that was popularized in North America by actor Steven Segal.  In 1988, Steven Segal starred in a semi bio film entitled “Above The Law” in which he described watching an Aikido master effortlessly throw people.  Aikido is based on a spiritual practice of grounding oneself and flowing and countering energy through movement and pivoting force.

Reiki for me has come alive with my martial arts training.  Just as attention and awareness is sharpened in martial arts competitions, so too has my energy awareness in Reiki. The grounding to the earth prior to conducting a Reiki treatment has prevented me from being “sucked in” to people’s issues that show up energetically.  Grounding is a combination of energetic and mental focus.  The mind must remain calm and balanced to receive energetic impressions on subtle energies.

The other awareness that I have developed is a sense of flow.  Aikido is predominantly focused on flow of energy through movement.  Similarly, I seem to seek that same sense of flow in my day to day life.  Every moment is unique and I strive to honour each moment as they present themselves.  A true master healer will never truly feel that their training is complete.  Each moment contains the possibility of Love and I often encourage people in my spiritual mentorship practise to find the love during stressful events.  Love can take on self-preservation, or it can be about protecting love ones.  The most daring way to use love to understand the energy behind stressful events and people out of integrity.

Distill the love, even just a little, and you may find your personal fulcrum in both healing and life.
