Over 250 residents of Lagos Island benefit from Medical Outreach

It is interesting to bring to the awareness of the generality of the public that, not fewer than 250 persons benefitted from a free Medical Outreach programme. It was put together by Concerned Lagos Island Youths at Razak Okoya lane, Lagos Island, Lagos State Nigeria.

The medical outreach, which was organised by the aforementioned association of youths featured free blood pressure test, sugar level/diabetes test, malaria test, medical consultation/medical examination, health talk, as well as drugs for common illnesses. Those who took the free eye test also got medication with free eye glasses.

In addition to what the medical outreach featured was free tuberculosis test, free HIV test, counseling and awareness talk, hepatitis tests and dental checks.

Docotal Health Foundation and Nurses Got Talent Foundation, alongside volunteers from other NGO’s are those with whom the medical outreach was brought to fruition.

The Concerned Lagos Island Youths was impelled to to bring up such an initiative as a result of health challenges in the community which is compounded by lack of enough medical facilities in most hospitals and weak financial strength by many of the inhabitants of the community. It is however fulfilling to add that, persons from other communities beyond benefitted from the free medical outreach.

The programme witnessed a massive applaud and appreciation by members of the community who commended the group for the outreach, just as they revealed that this is the first time such intervention is coming to the community from the youths since the history of Lagos island.

Other persons acknowledged Concerned Lagos Island Youths for her humanitarian gesture and commended the medical team for taking their time to volunteer to serve the people.
