HAIR DAMAGE CONTROL-MAKE YOUR HAIR SHINE AGAIN.

Tags: hair shine

Is your Hair showing signs of abuse from the sun, chlorine, or saltwater? No sweat. You can undo the damage in 4 steps.

  1. Cut it out: A good cut is the only solution to damaged, split ends. With fewer sticking out, hair looks sleeker. (No products can repair split-ends; the so-called end-healers may glue ends together, but the effect is temporary.)
  2. Go deep: To replace lost moisture, apply a deep conditioner, or make your own by adding 75 gms each of softened butter and heavy cream to 75 ml of regular hair conditioner. Cover with a warm, damp towel. (For shorter hair, store the remaining product that you made in the fridge in a bottle. It can last for 10 days.) Wait 15 minutes, then shampoo and rinse thoroughly. Repeat the process several times a week at first, then every couple of weeks for maintenance.
  3. Clean: Frequent shampooing doesn't dry out hair, but it removes dulling oil. In fact, with a moisturising shampoo, you can add moisture
  4. Gloss: Apply protective serum before drying your hair with a blow dryer. These products contain silicone (or simethicone or dimethicone) to provide Shine, protect against heat styling, and prevent frizz. One drawback of serums is that they are difficult to wash out, leaving hair feeling brittle. Choose creamy products that have less silicone and more conditioners than "shine" sprays. Look for formulas that contain water.
  5. The most important rule for shiny hair: Keep it clean; Light doesn't reflect well off grime.
