Five Proven Benefits of Exercise in Addiction Recovery

A wide majority of people have started using Drugs and the statistics are alarming, it appears that the younger generation is the target of dealers because I see more and more drug circulation at parties and nightclubs. The worst part about the proliferation of drugs is that marijuana is now legal across quite a lot of countries in the world. People use drugs these days excessively and the problem needs to be addressed on a much larger scale.

If there is one major issue that prevents from countering this developing, it is the fact that marijuana is so easily available in various countries for medical reasons. However, you should also take the fact into account that this kind of Substance Abuse is deeply related to the misuse of the drug and not the procurement or use of it for medical purposes.

Cannabis had been around for ages and throughout the course of history shamans and other religious clergies have used it for various purposes. They have considered it a psychonaut drug that could teleport them to another direction and allow them to move their souls from one body to another.

Sure, all this sounds great but our problem of substance abuse in the current age persists and from what I have found, if you can use one drug in excess you would definitely try others. Similarly, the excessive use of weed is harmful for health. You can check here about its effects on body. There are a lot of things that people do in rehab centers and on their own when they are trying to get rid of a drug and let me tell you that the most advantageous thing that they can do is working out. Let’s shed some light on the few advantages of working out.

  1. No More Stress

If I have observed anything about exercise that primarily surprised me, it was the fact that physical activity can keep the stress away and this statement is true on so many levels. I have observed women with fertility issues who fixed their problem by being more active. I have noticed aging people who get gloomy because of depression get back to living their normal lives simply because they started regularly working out as per the advice of their doctors. Working out is deeply related to handling stress well because we have got scientific evidence for it. People who work out hard and regularly tend to release chemicals that keep them happy and full of joy. If you look at it from a spiritual practice, working out helps your body and it is a way of self-care which leads you to develop self-trust. Such activities can be great for human health especially when it comes to combating something as horrible as substance abuse.

  1. Happier You!

If I said that a happier you are on the way, I wouldn’t be lying my friend. When we work out daily or regularly as per our weekly schedules we train our bodies to release certain hormones every day which keep our stress under control. When your daily endorphin supply gets to you by simply working out, why would you need to resort to the drugs, right? Speaking for an addict, when they start to work out and their habits start to break they are also prone to experiencing a much better mood than their regular response. It is known to us that working out releases a particular hormone named endorphin which can be called ‘happiness hormone’ in our common language. However, be very mindful of the fact that working out is also related to releasing stress hormone known as cortisol so you would be keeping a check of the whole situation and NOT work out more than you are required to. That would be great for your own health. If you want to bring about a positive change in your mood, following an exercise routine of about thirty minutes each day should be more than enough for you.

  1. Nap Better

Do you have a hard time sleeping at night? And a short nap is impossible because you cannot ward off your thoughts for at least an hour before you fall asleep? Well, I have got a story to tell you. In my teens, like many other teens out there I became a junkie for a short while before I passed high school and the worse part about this detour that I took from my normal was that I couldn’t sleep. I struggled to sleep and since I had a low BMI than recommended if there was one thing that I never bothered trying to fix my problem, it was working out. When I was admitted into rehab I found out that working out is a way to get the high back and so I started eating healthy food in hefty amounts and I worked out. I noticed how my body because healthier, but the key change was that I slept better. I hadn’t slept well in ages and when I started to sleep regularly on time the results that I witnessed were magical. This routine gave an instant boost to my happiness and health.

  1. Stronger Immunity

One thing that deteriorates as we age is our immunity. Children natural have a better immunity system and they can fight diseases in a much better way as their brain and body cells are still growing. As we move down the lane in our life, our immunity decreases and we have to take care of ourselves in certain ways to keep that immunity level boosted. Drugs can hurt us in the worst way possible by destroying our immunity to diseases completely and making us vulnerable to them. Have you lately observed that you fall sick quite easily as compared to before? Well, now you know who the culprit is. So, even if the substance abuse is not clearly affecting you in one way or another, it is secretly working at reducing your immunity and it is making you vulnerable to various diseases. A lot of young people have succumbed to death by catching diseases like HIV, all thanks to the use of drugs. Regular exercises keep our muscles stronger and they also keep our organs and internal structure strong, so you can be assured that the chances of your falling ill terminally are very, very low.

  1. No More Rabbit Hole

Drugs can prove to be a rabbit hole, once you get stuck in this rut it appears there is no getting out but that is not true. One of the few tricks that actually make the trip to rehab worthwhile is working out. If you are trying to get rid of substance abuse or helping a loved one do so, you would notice that staying away becomes easy when you find outlets other than using drugs. A lot of people consume drug and alcohol primarily when they are emotionally stuck or stressed out because of their problems; they could be angry, frustrated and disappointed but is the use of drug your right outlet? Try to join a boxing class instead. You would feel much better letting everything out that way, it would become easier for you to focus and handle problems because now you have got an outlet that helps you deal with all your emotions without ever affecting your health gravely, instead, it will turn you into a being stronger than before; both mentally and physically. Help yourself, your friends and your family and beat substance abuse in the most natural ways possible, it might seem difficult but then nothing good ever comes out of easy stuff anyway. So, good luck!
