CBD Oil and its Effects

Tags: cbd oil

Cannabidiol (CBD) is probably the best-known cannabinoid in the cannabis plant, alongside Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Both compounds share the same roots but don’t have the same effects on the human body.

CBD oil is a food supplement which also helps many medical conditions. Read this blog post to see how it could help your health problem and the options for ingesting it.

What is it used for?

Cannabis – or marijuana –  is a naturally growing plant. The oil produced from the marijuana resin is powerful and can have major effects on the body.

CBD oil can’t make you ‘high’ as THC does but it can do wonders in the treatment of pain as the oil is very strong.   Research is currently being undertaken to determine whether the oil could have an effect on cancerous tumours.

CBD oil can currently be used to help treat a range of medical conditions including chronic pain, diabetes, nausea, inflammation and some social disorders such as schizophrenia and depression.

How do cannabinoids work?

Cannabinoids work by binding and activating to different types of receptors which are found in both the central nervous system and the immune systems. This process enables the systems to create an effect which is therapeutic.

How is it used?

It is completely safe to take CBD Oil in a drink or food. You can also apply it to your skin.

But one of the best ways to try to get the true benefits is by using a vape pen. The oil can be heated and inhaled through e cigs or a vaporizer.

Vaping is a great way to absorb CBD, because it gets to work straight away and tastes great. If you usually choose to vape e liquid however, you shouldn’t use CBD oil to vape with the same tank you would usually use. This is because the CBD oil can crystallise when it gets mixed with normal e liquid.

You must be careful in purchasing CBD Oil, which is not to be confused with cannabis oil (made up of marijuana, resin and cannabis oil). It’s not the same thing as CBD oil, which does not contain THC.

Cannabis oil can have a green or brown colour and is aromatic with a nutty taste. When sold on the street, it can be of poor quality and often contains contaminants and little if any CBD.

What are the effects of CBD oil?

CBD oil in vape pens does not contain the psychoactive component of the cannabis plant.

Although CBD has the same chemical formula as Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the atoms are arranged differently. This means that the user can’t get that ‘stoned’ feeling, and there are no symptoms present which are associated with smoking marijuana, for example red eyes and paranoia.

CBD oil users can expect effects such as decreased inflammation, a reduction in nausea, suppressed anxiety and even a suppression in seizure activity.

What about the side effects?

Some people have reported minor digestion problems and a dry feeling in their mouth, but there are no major side effects of using CBD oil. In very extreme cases, users may find that they are more likely to catch an infection or develop mild blood clots.

Isn’t cannabis illegal in the UK?

While the cannabis plant is a class B drug in the UK, from 2017 products containing CBD are to be classed as medicines. This ruling has been released as there have been no documented studies which show CBD oil to give its user undesirable effect.

So, as you can see, there are numerous benefits around taking CBD oil, especially for those people with chronic illnesses. It its crucial to realise that every person’s body is different, and reaction rates to CBD oil will differ case by case. The only way to investigate this further is to give it a try!
