Fascia is the Tissue in the body that connects all organs, muscles, bones, joints, and ligaments. This tissue surrounds and holds in place the body’s entire internal structure. The Fascia can be in the form of a sheet or a band, depending on where in the body it is located. Fascia is made up of primarily collagen. The health of this tissue is vital for joints and muscles. It is a prime component of your body’s circulation and ability to move and flex. Fascial tissue is responsible for muscle contraction and movement. If it is damaged due to injury or tightens up from lack of movement, it can become painful.
Dealing With Pain
If you are noticing any pain, the first step is to determine whether or not this is fascia or muscle pain. A good indication of fascial pain is if it tends to lessen with movement.
