Waxy O'Connor's in Woburn Has Closed

Waxy O'Connor's In Woburn Has Closed
by Marc Hurwitz

A group of Irish pubs continues to disappear from the local landscape, as yet another outlet has closed its doors.

According to multiple sources, Waxy O'Connor's in Woburn has shut down for good, with the closure apparently happening yesterday. The pub joins other locations of Waxy's in Brookline, Foxboro, and Kingston that have also shuttered (another was planned for Somerville's Assembly row but that fell through), with the sole remaining location in the Greater Boston area--and Massachusetts--being in Lexington. Waxy's does appear to remain in operation in Keene, NH, Plainville, CT, San Antonio, TX, and Ft. Lauderdale, FL (its first location).

The Woburn outlet of Waxy O'Connor's had been in business for approximately six years.

The address for the now-closed location of Waxy's in Woburn was 1 Rainin Road, Woburn, MA, 01801. The website for the other locations can be found at http://www.waxys.com/
