Patrick Cross (Thirsty Scholar Pub, Angelo's Coal Fired Pizza) Has Passed Away

A local restaurateur who was behind a popular Irish pub and a relatively new pizzeria has passed away.

According to several sources, Patrick Cross of the Thirsty Scholar Pub in Somerville and Angelo's Coal Fired Pizza in Quincy died on Tuesday, leaving behind his wife and children as well as his mother and several siblings. Cross was the proprietor of the Beacon Street pub which first opened in the 1990s and he was also a partner who was involved in the opening of the Hancock Street pizza spot which opened in October of 2014.

According to a page within the Boston Globe, visiting hours will take place at the Dolan Funeral Home in Dorchester's Lower Mills tomorrow (Friday, February 12) from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and a mass will be held in St. Agatha's Church in Milton on Saturday at 10:00 AM. (Internment is private.)
