If you are full time wedding photographer or blogger just like me looking for ways to upgrade your image quality you cannot go wrong with this Sigma lens. It is a wide-angle to normal-length zoom lens that features a fast, bright constant f/1.8 maximum aperture which is the unique selling point of this lens.

In cases where you need to zoom and need those aperture for low light conditions this lens will help in reducing the use of the flash in some conditions.

PROS of the Sigma 18-35 1.8 art lens

  • Good for low light
  • Constant aperture through the zoom range
  • Solid build quality
  • Great autofocus
  • Sharp and good glass as expected from Sigma

Disadvantages of the Sigma 18-35 1.8 art lens

  • No image stablization

Comparing the jpeg samples above, you will not notice must differences in quality but the Sigma does give it a little more sharpness to it compare the Canon. But in all honestly the Canon is a decent camera for use for blogging or YouTube videos and even professional work as well. If you are not into prints but just need something for filming to be shown on the projection screen I do not think customers can see much of the differences in sharpness.

The only reason why I upgraded to the Sigma was because I needed to zoom with a 1.8 aperture in most cases that was one of the major reason for the upgrade.
