Spiritual Coaches: Why Being Real On Social Media Is Key To Make Clients

If you are a spiritual coach or entrepreneur exhausted from using many marketing methods and techniques without much success, than this post is for you.

One of the key ways to develop your business and reach new potential clients is to use Social Media, because it can connect you instantly with people all over the world and it’s also a great way to build your reputation on a specific subject.

The thing is, many spiritual coaches and entrepreneurs don’t really know where to start. And that is not due to a shortage of information, quite the opposite.

There are SO many possible ways and different approached to Social media that it is difficult to to know which will actually work!

It can be quite daunting to understand which social media channels to use, when to post, what to post, how to connect, etc.

So for many the strategy is to try out loads of different marketing techniques and methods, not exactly being sure if it is the right one for you in specific. And then feeling frustrated and eventually thinking that social media is not for you because none of your efforts is resulting in paying clients.

I have seen many of my clients coming to me at a point of exhaustion having spent lots of money on social media courses that are way too generic for them, only to find out that they have been taking in a lot of information, but still no clients.

So, let’s set aside the temptation to splurge on that amazing social media course or programme on “How to get 50 new clients in 10 minutes through social media” and let’s get real.

There are indeed amazing courses on social media on the web, but the thing they do not take into consideration is the fact that we are all different.

Sometimes they put too much emphasis on the “marketing” on social media marketing, completely forgetting that “social” bit.

It’s all methods, strategies, techniques, but no real, raw human focus.

And especially for a spiritual coach and entrepreneur, you do want the focus to be on the social. You want to follow your calling to help people.

In my over 10 years of working experience in social media, I know all the marketing strategies and methods there are, so you can believe me when I tell you that no method beats being social. Being you. Showing yourself authentically online. Because that’s whom your clients want to know and work with.

So, for you, the approach to social media needs to be different from someone selling products or even services that only focus on sales and numbers.

Because you do not want quantity. You want quality. You want amazing clients that are ready to work with you and pay you a high end rate.

So, let’s look at what really works for you:

1. Coaching is all about having conversations

2. Conversations happen between two people

3. People grow from connection

4. Connection brings you new clients

Creating Conversations and Connections

Coaching and a spiritual business is all about connection. Is all about conversation.

It is indeed through a conversation that people get to know you and trust you enough to work with you and pay you your rates.

They can find you through a Facebook advert or a blog post, but it is extremely rare that you get a high end client without at least one conversation first.

And that’s where social media comes. Social media is the amazing channel that allows you to have real conversations online.

It allows you to reach, meet and engage in conversations with new people from all over the world, every single day.

Social media is the channel where meaningful working relationships can start for you.  Where you can give a great tip or advice to someone in need of that advice, where they ask you questions, where you listen to them and ask them powerful questions that can lead to a connection, to a discovery call, and a new client.

Every time someone makes a comment on one of your posts, shares your content, starts following you, asks you a question, etc, it is a golden opportunity to start a conversation.

But, if you are too focused on all the marketing methods or on “how many times per day I need to post on Facebook and Twitter”, or on using recorded automated webinars where you are not really interacting live with people, you’ll miss the point of social media, which, is, being social.

Of course you can still use (and should use) certain tactics and methods such as social media advertising, posting valuable content at key times, promoting your page, etc, but those should not be the main focus or relying exclusively on them to attract clients.

See it this way: you go to a party and put an advert on a wall there about your services. Surely a few people will see it, but how many will actually contact you? Especially when they are busy socialising and having conversations with others!?

Now, you go to the same party, but you start talking to the people there. You introduce yourself, look for conversations around your expertise and provide great advice or a great tip to a group of people, or even better, to only one person, and instantly get their attention, just by being you and showing yourself. I bet you’ll get a whole lot more people wanting to continue the conversation with you.

You need to constantly remind yourself that it’s one at a time. This will take the pressure off you and allow you to give the quality of your attention to just one person at a time.

You can still put the advert on the wall, but do not let it hanging in there and leave the party, hoping that people will call you later.

So, basically, those methods and techniques are there just as an extra help, but it shouldn’t be your main concern. And also, not all of those techniques are right for you. They need to be specific to your business and to your goals.

Just because Instagram and Facebook offer paid ads, that doesn’t mean they are right for you.

Your focus on social media needs to be:

  • Being on the right channels where your audience is
  • Listening to the conversations already taking place on those channels that relate to your niche/topic
  • Start conversations with relevant people that you can help and providing value
  • Make connections and set up discovery calls

I hope this article helped in giving you a bit more clarity on how you as a spiritual coach and entrepreneur can use social media successfully.

It’s all about showing up fully online, authentically. Being raw and real, and sometimes even vulnerable and powerful at the same time.

Because that is whom your high paying clients want to see and work with – the real you.
