CANON SET TO DEBUT HIGH END POCKET CAMERAS SOON, LAUNCHES #MyNaijaCampaign

Canon Central and North Af-rica has revealed that high end pocket sized cameras are soon to hit the market to enable everyday people make memories and tell stories, just as Canon Nigeria launched its My Naija #Liveforthestory campaign.

This was made known by the Sales and Marketing Director, Business to Consumer, Canon Central and North Africa, Somesh Adukia during the #Liveforthestory campaign launch in Ikeja, Lagos. Adukia also revealed that Canon is focusing on Nigeria because of the rising young and vibrant population.

“In Nigeria, we noticed that end user service is important and we have provided this, hence the need for brand awareness. We are doing this not just because we hope to sell innovative products that pack quality and expertise, like our high end very portable camera; we are doing this for Nigerians.

“This is essentially about associating ourselves with Nigerians so that they will carry our brand anywhere they go. This year-long campaign, which has ace photographer, TY Bello as brand ambassador, will feature road shows, Canon Academy training sessions and a photo competition with the grand prize including a photography tour with TY Bello.

Canon Academy sessions will be tailored towards professional photographers training young Nigerians in photography.

Speaking on the competition, TY Bello said; “Photography is a means of exploring the world and as photographers, we seek to change the way the world sees Africa and Nigeria.

Fortunately, this is a lot easier with social media. The world is listening and we want to take advantage of it to tell stories of Nigeria the world has not heard.

“To compete, people are to upload photographs of what it means to be a Nigerian on social media using #Liveforthestory, #MyNaija or #Canoncna. The pictures are to depict the culture and undying spirit of Nigeria.

We are essentially looking forward to a mix of different genres in photography. One need not be a professional photographer to compete, just have a camera; be it mobile phone camera or conventional or professional camera, they also need not be photos taken with Canon cameras.

Works have to be recent and uploads are welcomed from February 28 to March 28, 2018,”

Bello said. Reiterating that Canon seeks to be closer to consumers, Country Manager, Canon Business to Consumer Nigeria, Tayo Omodia said, “Our goal is to build a relationship with the everyday people of Nigeria, as well as photo and videographers.”

The aim of the #Liveforthestory campaign is to position us as a story telling brand. We want to be part of the beautiful moments in Nigeria. We seek to incessantly be closer to consumers.”
